I should have listened and not went to film school

Film school is level 1. Now you're level 2: entering the real world. I suggest getting your health in order and earning money again at any job. The less time you spend looking for "industry jobs" and just get solid employment with a fair wage, the better. Chip away at your debt. Build a solid kit. I

Which rig would allow me to get “The Office” style zooms while filming?

The Office was shot on Sony broadcast style cameras, I think the SRW9000? These are 2/3” CMOS with a B4 mount common to most broadcast cameras. The lenses used on these kinds of cameras are often extreme focal ranges, like 8mm-120mm, and usually are par focal, allowing those crash zooms to be extra

Thinking of buying the Fujifilm GFX100 II — need advice from people who’ve used it

Truly, as great as the GFX is as a stills camera it’s significantly behind the curve in comparison to both Sony and Canon when it comes to video. I’d be looking more towards something like the canon C50/Sony Fx3 if your solely looking to record motion

The Creator (2023)

Gareth chose to shoot it Anamorphic. I think this is more due to using Sony FX3. Which is a $3500 prosumer camera. The FX3 has in camera desqueeze for anamorphic. IMAX cameras are rented out for around $10,000 per hour. It would have balooned The Creator's $80 milloon budget. Part of Gareth's pitch

Downgrading FX6 to FX3

I know the FX6 has some cine body niceties like internal ND, SDI, etc, but I view the FX3 as basically a full sibling to the FX6 that embraces slightly different compromises. I don’t think of it as a lower tier really… FX3You lose internal ND, but you gain stabilization. You lose some ports that a

Introducing the Canon EOS C50 Cinema Camera: Open a World of Cinematic Possibilities

I'm curious what people's thoughts are on this. To me: 6.9K open gate is quite nice, especially if you need different exports. Open gate to C400 is a nice addition too, something the Sony ecosystem is missing. Supersampling to FF 4K is nice, rather than pixel binning or cropping. 6400 ISO is a sweet

First timer

Hire a kit from Hotcam, they're great. FX3 will be perfect and a Sony G Master 24-70 ii. Do not hire a soundie that's mental, just either hire a Sony dual receiver kit and go OTT, or buy/rent DJI mini 2s and get the lat mics for each and some stickies (like I'm doing).

Is a7rv good enough for video vs fx3?

No it’s not the best for video. Maybe if you had it on a stationary tripod yes. But if you are planning on doing hand held videos get the FX3. I have a Sony A7RV the photos are amazing out of it, but the video I find is very shaky even after post processing. I ended getting a DJI osmo for the gimbal

Should I invest in Sony or Canon?

I shoot Canon. I love canon. Canon color science is better than Sony, maybe just beats out Sony in top line lenses (although I’ve yet to try the new Sony 28-70 F2 GSM). And all that being said, if I were to start from scratch, I would probably still go with Sony. More affordable, greater 3rd party a

How recording video affects the camera's condition? X-T4

Since you're curious, 16 days ago a fellow user had two cameras dying on him due to thermal damage, but there are a few things into it as why it happened. He had a X-S10 and a X-S20, he used his cameras for streaming 28 to 32 hours a week for two years. Although they were not recording, just streami
