Introducing the Canon EOS C50 Cinema Camera: Open a World of Cinematic Possibilities

I'm curious what people's thoughts are on this. To me: 6.9K open gate is quite nice, especially if you need different exports. Open gate to C400 is a nice addition too, something the Sony ecosystem is missing. Supersampling to FF 4K is nice, rather than pixel binning or cropping. 6400 ISO is a sweet

Which Camera Works Best for Wedding Videos?

Sony a7siii and fx3. Dual iso for the win.

Torn between two cameras!! Sensor size, low light, and post cleanup?

Get an A7Siii used. Best deal by a mile. Especially if they toned down the noise reduction (not sure if they did this though). That higher second native ISO of 12,800 on the FX3, A7Siii, and ZVE1 makes a large difference. Between the FX30 and FX2 definitely grab the FX2, you can save money buy getti

Switching from Canon R7 to Sony FX3 — Cine EI + ISO is confusing me badly

No matter the camera, they all have a ‘base’ iso for their LOG profile. For the r7 and the fx3, that base iso is 800. You should be shooting at that and adjusting either aperture or adding ND to control exposure. Sony has a second base iso of 12,800 - you can shoot at that and control exposure the s

Why does this "grain" or "noise" show up even on lower isos like 1250??

More megapixels = more thirst for light Not really. Noise is almost entirely a function of how much light is collected by the whole sensors. Read noise only becomes relevant if the exposure is extremely small and in that context having more pixels tends to increase noisyness. Lot's of people make th

Torn between two cameras!! Sensor size, low light, and post cleanup?

So I heard a while back that Sony won't label the second Native ISO as "dual native ISO" if it doesn't have extremely similar noise levels to the first. This is understandable but it doesn't mean the FX3 and FX6 are just flipping on noise reduction at 12,800. First, the noise cleanup is still presen

Torn between two cameras!! Sensor size, low light, and post cleanup?

I also don't buy into this claim that the FX3/FX6 high base is just software noise reduction. Like why would they then chose to apply it specifically there? Surely then much lower ISOs would benefit from the same "magic algorithm". Why wouldn't the same capability be added to other cameras as a high

I guess we'll agree to disagree for the most part. I get why you're skeptical. I just remember hearing in a CES interview or something of the sort Sony's explanation of why they didn't label many of their cameras as dual native ISO and it was due to them reserving that label for cameras that match t
