Gear advice

Professional underwater photographer of 12+ years here. Bringing that Sony A7R4 underwater is not going to be cheap no matter what you do. You could try finding a used underwater housing for it, but even then - like buying a used car - I myself would never buy used until it gets serviced to replace

Wildlife Lens For A6400

It would give you the full-frame equivalent of a 105-525mm lens. At 100 yards, that would give you a field of view of roughly 20ft x 14ft. For larger mammals and wildlife, that isn't too bad. For smaller birds, they might be literal dots on the screen. You can use a calculator like this to gauge you

Got the Megadap ETZ21 Pro+

I just did some testing with some of my wider-angle E lenses on my Z7 II and A7R IV, so while I don't have the 20mm 1.8 G, I do have the Voigtlander 15mm f4.5, FE 28mm f2, and 35mm 1.4 ZA, and testing all 3 on the Z7 II yielded no strange results where the corners turned to unusable mush (wide open

Seeking lense advice

I have the A7Riv, and the Sony 90mm macro lens. Even with the extra MP mine has, you still won’t get photos this detailed from my experience. You will need extra magnification and would want to use a photo stacking software post processing to get to something like this. I LOVE macro, and that is why

Random IR photos

Sony A7r4 full spectrum, filters from 470 to 830 and the IR Chrome. Lens I use the most is the 24 mm 2.8 Sony G, but also the Canon 40 mm pancake with adapter, Sony 100-400 GM. My Sony 16-35 2.8 GM works ok above 24 mm but not great, Sigma 24-70 2.8 is absolute garbage for IR. It's awesome for norma

Official Gear Purchasing and Troubleshooting Question Thread! Ask /r/photography anything you want to know! November 21, 2025

From my research it's looking like full frams do better with low light, which I deal with a lot doing wildlife with high apertures. I'm usually shooting in f8, 1/2000 shutter speed. Jumping to a full-frame body would give you roughly one-stop of light in terms of noise performance. Also having the m

4 days with the RX100M7A

The app isn't that bad if you just wanna transfer a handful of images, tho I've no clue why the setting for full res images isn't working for you... Edit: Actually I think I might know why, were you shooting RAW only? If you do that there's no full res JPEG to transfer! The JPEG embedded into RAWs o
