GR IV Monochrome pre-orders are now open ($2,199.95)

I think I will sell my Sony A7rIV and lenses for this. Since I don’t do paid jobs anymore, the Sony became a dust collector. Maybe I will wait for a Fuji X-Pro 4 but who knows when it will be released. Ricoh GR3 is my most used camera for over three years. Monochrome is a thing I that I’d like to di

Gear advice

Professional underwater photographer of 12+ years here. Bringing that Sony A7R4 underwater is not going to be cheap no matter what you do. You could try finding a used underwater housing for it, but even then - like buying a used car - I myself would never buy used until it gets serviced to replace

Sea Frogs housing worth it?

Have had mine for years. Scuba and freediving. No leaks no issues. Sony a7rIv. As many people have said, keep it clean and check your seals etc and ive found them great. My only issue is they are decently buoyant without having strobes etc on there

Brand new S9 + 20-60mm vs Used Sony A7C for family/travel photos. No brainer?

it was for me. I'm also in the no EVF is fine camp and lumix handles the e shutter fine (to avoid banding). I LOVE that it's full frame and (for me) the 18-40mm is a dream. So small but also a perfect range for me. I've owned most of the 5D bodies with a 17-40mm... I've shot sony. I've owned an A7c.

Is there anyone who has used both Sony and Olympus cameras?

I have the a6300, a7ii and a7r4. On the Olympus side, I have the OM-1.ii and E-P7. I don't use the kit lens on the Olympus cameras - I mostly use the 12-40/2.8 PRO. The Sony kit lens is shit, and the kit lenses I have for my older Olympus cameras are excellent, and so are samples I've seen online fo

It is up to you but another factor for me is that I prefer the Sony 200-600mm over the Canon 200-800mm. The internal zoom mechanism is really nice to have and adds to the weather sealing of the lens. Also, it is a faster lens overall but it is mitigated a bit by using an APS-C body. In terms of reac

Do you think we'll ever see new medium format SLRs/rangefinders?

I do hate how Bayer filtres function. I wanted a monochrome digital camera for that very reason, but they are rare and often very expensive. And I've been very hesitant to have my a7R IV modified to have the filtre removed, it's not cheap and probably quite risky. Plus I'm not sure if there aren't g

Shutter vibration - should I take it seriously?

It's a pretty minor effect, I did some tests with my A7iv and even with the worse case scenario I couldn't discern any sharpness difference between the shutter types. There is a blog post on the A7Riii and A7Riv and especially around 1/125 of a second, there is some shutter shock. So you could avoid

Shelf life of mirrorless Cameras: life after DSLR.

Mirrorless cameras like your Sony A7R IV mainly age from use, not set a shelf life. Most upgrades happen for features, not failure, if it still works, it's still good to go.
