Why are images so much clearer on my 70D compared to my A6100 when A6100 is better in every way?

To me it looks like the A6100 clearly missed focus. How did you focus these two images?

I need some tips for event photography.

I used my sony a6100 with the standard kit lens of 16-50mm with variable aperture. Shutter speed around 1/125-1/200 and aperture around 4-5.6. I used the manual mode with continuous auto focus. Invest in better dslr lenses or a cheaper full frame mirrorless and lenses?
