Sony cameras overheat doing 4k if they are not the high end ones. A7 is pretty mid spec so they can overheat if you run it max quality for a long time with no cooling. I run an a1 sometimes and it doesn't have issues, but I have a smaller 6700 which I and it can overheat if I do videos pretty easily
