Considering switching Nikon to canon

If you want a big upgrade over Nikon in terms of AF and you like the idea of a 28-70 2.0 Then Sony is actually where I would suggest moving. I personally felt that Nikons AF on mirrorless was a hair better than Canon, but neither are as good as Sony. That said I am a sony shooter so that might be a

DSLR or Mirrorless? What Camera Are You Using and Why?

I started shooting back in 1999, long before mirrorless was a thing. My roots were in Canon SLRs and later high-end DSLRs, and I shot pretty much everything over the years. Sports, landscapes, portraits, studio work. I was using serious bodies at the time like the Canon EOS 3 and later EOS-1D, 5D se

New Tamron 70-180mm lens distortion HELP

Others have explained why this happened. I just wanted to add: If you ever get to a point, where you need silent shooting / electronic shutter in sports photography, look for cameras with “stacked” sensors. Like the Sony A9, A9II, A9III and the A1 cameras. They have much faster readout, in the singl

Mirrorless

The more significant difference is gonna be a stacked electronic shutter vs unstacked, where it can replace a mechanical shutter entirely. So that's your z8/z9, a1/a9, R3/R1. E-shutters like on the 850 and lower priced cameras will show distortions with fast moving objects like bats, golf clubs, pla

Switch to Canon mirrorless from Nikon DSLR for sports?

I shot Nikon DSLRs before going mirrorless. The Canon R series has excellent AF with the bodies you are considering and the sensor read speed if fast enough to use the e-shutter for kids sports. You'll need to spend a little time setting it up properly in order to keep focus from jumping from your k

Game film

Sounds like you are filming for highlights. If so, your phone will work just fine. I suggest you get a tripod for mounting and be prepared to go back and forth between restraining lines. If you want the best setup, you'll need a mirrorless camera on a tripod with a good lens. Also, you'll need a cam

Next purchase: more reach or full frame?

Sony shooter here. I am going to go out of the box with this suggestion as I took this road back in 2018 when I transitioned from a Canon 7Dmk2 to the Sony a7III for the mirrorless AF benefits. I was just getting started shooting professionally and couldn't afford GM glass but knew I mirrorless was

📸 Mobile Photography 2026: Why the Public is Choosing the Wrong Champion

u do realize leica cameras are kinda shit nowadays, right? u're just paying for the name, not the performance. U don't have the sharpness of a sony, or the color accuracy of a nikon, or the autofocus of a sony, or the detail of a hasselblad, leica is no longer a leader in literally anything, it's ju

Any sports photography settings tips

There is a tiny HUGE difference between an A1 and an A7iii. well you opened that e-shutter door, and you still haven't explained why you think that nd filter is going to somehow fix whatever problem you think that e-shutter is creating. at any rate, i agree that using the a7iii electronic shutter fo

Zf vs Z6 III for mixed use: wildlife several times a week, but not wildlife-only?

I have z6iii for birds mostly. Z6iii is not sizing in branches and obstructions tbh, especially on short distance. All This features that got you hanged up have imo marginal value. Like Sony A1 has no precapture and is still great for birds. I think what you’re describing here perfectly matches ZF.
