soda changes streaming forever ($11k camera)
I remember Asmongold upgrading to Sony A7 III (a model for photographers), on recommendation from Reckful, who was into photography. Then Asmon had to deal with the camera overheating and shutting down mid stream for like 3 years, because that camera was never meant to be running 24/7 as webcam. It

Sony Cameras and Lenses Get Another Price Hike in the US
Yeah I hope the a7 iii doesn't jump up in price that much on the used market by November/December. I was really hoping to pick one up by then

Micro Four Thirds is "just getting killed" - Peter Jeune, on Petapixel Podcast 12/06/2025
I actually listened to that, and I think the interview is really thought-provoking. Sony has "just done such a good job at telling the full-frame story" It’s true—Sony really pioneered the push to democratize full-frame with the A7 III. They were so good at convincing the general audience that full-

I really enjoyed both Sony bodies (the menus are god awful), the A6500 had a tiny tiny battery (I had 8 batteries to get me through a day). The A7iii had better batteries (3 to get through a day). At the time I switched

Second hand A7iii - Is it worth it to pay more for less shutter count?
You can get a new A7 iii for around 1100. I wouldn't consider a second-hand one at those prices.

City/night shots: is syncro scan a constant? Do you have trouble telling if there is banding?
I think it is quite hard to spot banding, but it's also more like "set it once per area" rather than micromanaging it per shot. There's situations where you won't be able to stop every light from banding too, where 90% (mains-fed bulbs) might be stable at 1/50 but then others (cheap dimmed LED for e

Panasonic Lumix s9 and its role.
Adding to this, the S9 electronic shutter is so much better than the S5 (mk1) or the Sony A7 III, which are really wobbly when the physical shutter is disabled. Outside of flash work or niche fast paced situations, it's not a big issue.

Sony A7iii firmware 4.04 released!
I have two A7III bodies and they're both now two firmware updates behind just because Sony makes it nearly impossible to do the update on MacOS.

Hiking cameras
I found a Sony a7III for $500 on marketplace. But genuinely I’d just use your phone.
