Is one mirrorless body safe?
In 20 years and 1100+ weddings, I needed my backup one time. - when my Sony A7iii shutter went out at 579,000 count during the entrance of a bride at the ceremony. Was it worth carrying a second for 20 years just to have this happen to me one time? HELL YES.

iPhone 15 Pro Max vs Sony A7III
Posted some travel photos recently here from Japan and South Korea and got some comments doubting they were shot on iPhone đ So thought it would be interesting to do a quick comparison. Tried to find the most similar shots I had across both my iPhone 15 Pro Max and Sony A7III with matching editing.

Galaxies at the edge of the earth
This is a single 6 second exposure at iso 3200, f1.8 on a Sony A7 iii with a Viltrox 16mm and while I know this isnât really the edge of the earth itâs more a play on the fact that there isnât any major land mass facing south beyond New Zealand apart from Antarctica. This was towards the end of the

I captured the comet Lemmon with my mirrorless camera
C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) captured with my usual and modest astromodified a7III at 600mm. By pure chance, I was able to try the Sony 200-600mm a couple of nights ago. My intention was to make a few tests, to shoot Andromeda, Orion, and the Pleiades just to see how they look at 600mm, and I thought of givin

24 fps as a âsacred cowâ isnât 30 fps more practical for social media?
Man, what a time to be alive. Any time this conversation comes up, I'm instantly brought back to my childhood bedroom circa 2002. I spent countless hours searching the internet, doing whatever I could to find out how to make MiniDV footage that came from my Sony VX-2000 look like it was shot on film

đ„ The aurora borealis last night outside my cabin in Venetie, Alaska
Hey, everyone! This was the aurora I recorded from the front porch of a cabin here in Venetie, Alaska last night on Jan 29 around 1:18 am AKST. I'm here with UAF doing field work for a few NASA sounding rockets until Monday Feb 3. I live in North Pole, Alaska and study Space Physics at UAF as a Ph.D

Sony's much-anticipated A7 V is here with a faster 33MP sensor and 4K 120p video
I think its hardest competition is probably the R6 III, with a 32MP sensor, and 7K/60 Canon Cinema Raw for essentially the same price. I imagine Sony are trying to protect the FX3 by skipping RAW in the A7 range.

I have the money for a full frame camera for the first time since having kids. I start looking at the Z5ii and R10 and then the lenses and realize I don't want to spend almost $4,000 on a camera and lens. Does anyone also feel fine with M43 but get scared away with prices on FF?
I had a FF Sony kit and an M43 kit for the longest time. A7III for pretty much everything that wasnât wildlife, EM1 MK3 for wildlife. On a whim, I picked up a cheap used Lumix 14-140mm mkII off of facebook and took just the Olympus with me for a trip. When I came home and went through my pics, I dum
