Full Frame: a hype designed to get consumers to upgrade

People like to go on about higher resolutions being a marketing gimmick/unnecessary but honestly, dr and colour science might as well be added to that too. I know that sounds like heresy but what was the last camera that came out- pro or prosumer that you couldn’t get good dr and colour from? Push c

Is there a better compact full frame camera than Sony a7cii?

the a7cr is the direct higher end version of the a7cii, buy for most people the sensor is probably overkill and the rest is the same. so for you a7cii might just be the best option. the canon r8 is cheaper, slightly lighter and arguably more ergonomic, they are pretty similar but the a7cii has ibis

How is digital zoom?

I've been in your position, but in my case, using a Panasonic 70-300mm. And in my experience, zooming in 2x is reliable and doable, with a very important caveat. The lens should have built in Optical Stabilisation. I've tried it with non OS lenses and it's a sorry mess. The camera has only got an el

fp or fp L?

I think that's largely correct, however, do note that unlike the SL, the fp and fp L only have an electronic shutter. I've found that the fp L has especially persistent banding artifacts, even when shooting at a shutter speed in sync with power frequency. fp is not as bad. YMMV Also related to the e

Pocketable camera with LOG (or RAW) for street shooting and color grading practice?

i feel you on wanting something truly pocketable. the original bmpcc is small but still kinda chunky for a jacket pocket honestly. for actual pocketable size with log, check the sony zv-e10 - it has s-log and fits in large pockets. the canon g7x iii also shoots canon log and disappears in a jacket.

Is the S1 actually big or exaggerated?

I liked S1/S1R form factor. Heavier but good grip and felt like tanks. Newer bodies feel like toys compared to them. I now have a Z8 and it feels quite close to S1 bodies - bigger and heavier. I prefer larger over smaller. They seem to balance better with larger lenses. At one point I also had Sigma

Good Recommendations for Digital Cameras if I love my Minolta XG-1.

I would go with the Sony A7c; it's not as "film-camera-like" as Fuji but it's very small and full-frame, and almost every kind of lens can be adapted to it. I used Minolta lenses on my Sony cameras for years. The Fuji cameras are APS-C, which means your lenses will have a narrower angle of view. The

Still Too Big and Heavy

you're wrong on the 16mm XT2 vs 24mm S9 combo. The S9 is smaller and lighter. https://camerasize.com/compact/#922.951,679.571,ha,b yes that uses the 35mm which is slightly lighter and has it's hood on. I had this combo here in my hands before selling my fuji (XE4). Comparing lenses, I'm not using th

Sigma FP-TLR

The 180 mount is ideal if I go with a camera with a grip so I’m keeping it around if I go with an a7cii I don’t have the sigma FP yet (only a 3D printed model). From my test with the lumix s9, it takes too long for the sensor to start the exposure at all the shutter speeds to expose properly. Hence

Ouch there definitely is some people who dont like m43😅

I mean he’s not wrong for that price. If you want to try m43 id just say you get a lumix lx100ii. Pretty hard to recommend interchangeable lens m43s nowadays knowing how portable your setup could be with an xe5, a7cr, sigma fp or fpl, lumix s9 (or even the silly sigma bf). Still, probably i’ll insta
