Serious question....

Exactly. Never ever answer the door for police. Don’t even speak to them through the door or a window. Get a hard wired (not WiFi) doorbell camera that has an intercom feature. If someone knocks, just use your phone to talk to them via the camera’s speaker and microphone. My personal recommendation

Looking for a PoE Video Doorbell

No such native options. Best bet would be Reolink POE doorbell going into a NVR for local storage 24/7 plus scrypted for HomeKit integration. It’s what I use. No compatibility with legacy/physical doorbell chimes if that matters to you.

Looking for a simple, no subscription video doorbell

I love my Reolink POE doorbell. Totally worth the hassle of running an Ethernet cable and installing a POE injector. It could also run off of existing doorbell wiring, but I had an old transformer that didn't have enough power for a smart doorbell. Plus, my WiFi router is all the way across the hous

Best doorbell cameras without a subscription but includes local video playback?

Yeah, I know what you mean. Reolink isn't perfect but is fairly 'open' in that regard. Much more than any of the big tech names requiring a subscription. The other cool thing is that AI detection happens on board, and those 'sensor' events (person, vehicle) get passed to Home Assistant. The black mo

Ethernet Wiring in a Newly Built Home

Facts. Hell, I'm running my Reolink POE doorbell camera on Cat3 and it looks just fine. I certainly wouldn't have installed it that way, but whoever built my home apparently decided on Cat3 for the doorbell wiring and 5e everywhere else. I'll never understand the thinking of rolling out a separate s

Reolink cameras on a UniFi AI Port.

Yes, and they work really well. I have (had) a Reolink PoE doorbell on one AI Port and two RLC-1224A turrets on a 2nd one. In order to run two cameras, I had to reduce the resolution on them. I just got a G6 Pro Entry and two G6 turrets to replace them. I went full UniFi Protect. Anybody want to buy

Home POE doorbell recommendations

Skip Aqara, that's not even an actual real security camera system, that's a toy (an useless one). Hikvision and Dahua aren't available in your country because your country most likely banned them from federal use for human rights and USA vs China reasons. They are controversial brands, and IMO not f

Doorbell/Cameras/wifi security, dumb it down for me

Throw that ring crap to the trash. Get yourself a PoE camera system. Yes, you will have to drill a couple of holes and pass a couple of cables. It is extremely worth doing. No, you can't get a decent one for $300. You could get a cheap bundle/kit for $400 or so but you don't want to do that either.

G410 hardwire kit

I like the G410 as it is also a thread border router and matter hub. You should look for a doorbell that has Poe ethernet so it can run via electricity and not batteries. However you will need a Poe switch from your router. Some doorbells are Aqara g400, Reolink Video Doorbell PoE, Ubiquiti UniFi Pr
