What espresso machine did you start on, and would you recommend it to a beginner today?
Rancilio Silvia. Would not recommend. Finicky as stock, either need to faff around with temp surfing or go extra $200 for PID and whatnot. Steam wand o-ring gave up within a year, became rusty on the "stainless steel" base in 5 years despite me doing all the maintenance described in the manual. Ther

My New Shiny Station!
Dude I understand, you can't imagine how much I hated my workflow with a modified single dose Rancilio rocky + Rancilio silvia when I had to make 4-6 lattes in a row.

Downgrading to Bambino Plus [£200]
Ya I get it. I used to have a rancilio Silvia. Sold it back when secondary market was p cheap for espresso bc I got an e61 la scala butterfly bc I wanted to get into more steamed drinks. Now every day I regret it bc lol. Used Silvias are a few hundred more used now, and I really only want straight e

[$5,000USD] Debating between ECM Synchronika and LM Linea Micra
I bought a Synchronika about three months ago, and went to a La Marzocco open house over the weekend, so I've got a fairly fresh opinion. I got to play with the linea Micra, mini and a gs3. The Micra is small in person. Much smaller than I expected. If you have a small kitchen, maybe that's an advan

Low Volume Espresso Machine for Small Restaurant [$1000-1500]
A better pod machine (there are heavier duty and commercial pod machines) and stand alone frother might be the answer because a decent machine requires a decent grinder and that means ~$300 so your machine budget becomes $700-1200 and that doesn't get you a double boiler. Since most folks will order

From Silvia to Pro X?
Did the same as you about a year ago. Our old (from new) Silvia was solid, the Pro has (IMHO) dropped in build quality. It's been back under warranty once then, out of warranty, I had to fix the steam wand (due to power loss) myself. It works OK, but I'm not convinced the steam power is as strong as

Installed a new Steam Wand, frustration on another lvl… what am i doing wrong?
I have the same problem with this specific steam wand from Rancilio Silvia in my DeLonghi machine. This is the worst upgrade I've ever made. I prefer the original rubber steam wand of the DeLonghi. What I understand about this steam wand is that it has a wider tube. Since the DeLonghi has less power

Anybody frequently making milk drinks on a single boiler? [$1500]
I upgraded from Rancilio Silvia to a Quick Mill Vetrano double boiler and I’ve never looked back. 20 years and it’s the best purchase I’ve ever made . .

Best of March: Korebi Golden Toast
Ohh is it. Because the wand is the only reason I'm not choosing this machine. So you did it yourself or is there any workshop for this. And how did you get the rancilio Silvia wand? So do you have 685 or 785

Best of March: Korebi Golden Toast
both are same machines. 785 => 685 + 2 more accesories. and they both have bad steam wand. like super bad and tricky to work with. dont get either. I bought rancilio Silvia wand from amazon, its easily available. but its not worth going the upgrade if you are buying one right now. its very difficult
