Finally Happening

Check out r/3Dprinting and take a look at their getting started wiki, lots of very useful information in there and a great starting guide for beginners. If you can spare it, go right for an enclosed printer like a Qidi Q2 or a Bambu P1S and skip the open ones, the quality is just insane. The technol

Which one should i go for (first printer) and which brand is actually more trustworthy?

How technology savvy are you? The Bambu ecosystem is fairly fool-proof, but the P1S and P2S have some compromises that others do not. If you’re at somewhat technically capable and willing, I’d consider something else. I wouldn’t consider Flashforge due to privacy concerns, which you can read about o

Snapmaker U1 vs QIDI Q2, did I make the right choice?

I was deciding between those 2 also.... But then I went with Q2 combo and no regrets 👍 Reasons: Multi color material is great, but in my case for kids mostly. As I was thinking more to print functional parts for home, garden, garage... Where color is not that important and multicolor not at all. 2nd

I'm now thinking about buying a 3D printer, is it worth it?

is it worth it? If you are asking if you will end up saving money in the long run fixing stuff yourself, or actually make money selling prints, then no. You probably will be able to fix stuff yourself, maybe sell prints, but that will be more than offset by all the stuff you want to buy to "improve"

Never owned one.

I like to build model cars. I’m also gonna be building things for My Home Lab as well as other physics base projects and also electrical engineering projects. This seems to set the expectation that you will want to use a wide range of filaments, not just PLA and PETG. Consider fully enclosed printer

Before I buy... Am I overestimating the P1S's capabilities? Printing inline skate parts.

Yowzer, thanks for the feedback guys. I'm not hearing much support for being able to print PA (which Bambu lists the P1S as being 'capable' of doing) or even ABS/ASA (which it says are 'ideal') without some additional 3rd party upgrades, let alone the GF/CF variants. I was under the impression that

Cheapest 3d printer that can...

Elegoo CC will probably do it ok, nozzles you will need to swap out with a hardened steel one, the bimetallic ones with the insert start having problems around 300C. The insert will come loose over time and fall out. That said, if you really want to print engineering grade materials, the QIDI Q2 is
