I read one thread about public wifi risks and now I can't stop thinking about it at coffee shops
Every time I use public wifi, I simply use a VPN, but the free ones are usually terrible. Last Black Friday, I purchased one for about $1.70 a month. Since Black Friday is coming up and practically everyone has some campaigns, get a VPN service so you won't have to worry about it. PureVPN works well

Plex + Starlink + Proton VPN = indirect connection(s)???
I use PureVPN with port forwarding (bought a really cheap multi year plan years ago, not planning on renewing) to get around my providers CG NAT. It works, but only after I set up the specific ports in both Plex and the VPN client. Also, you need to make sure the server you pick actually had Port Fo

Doubt on subscription
Use a VPN with free or paid... I don't know about free version VPNs, but I'm using PureVPN, which is very cheap at 1100 Rs for 2 years validity. and am watching any content without interruption from India's OTT content.

I'm probably doing something wrong 😅
If your ISP won't allow Port Forwarding, the best way to overcome this, try to get Pure VPN, if you Google "port forwarding for Pi Network Pure VPN" you should be able to get the information you need. Or try the link below if it works: Port Forwarding Pi Network & Node in the UK: Easy Steps to Boost

So are my options essentially "pay to play," and hanging out at cafes for hours?
You can create your own VPN Server with OpenVPN or Tailscale on an Oracle Free Tier Server for completely free. Or use the free Proton VPN servers. And there are often deals to get an VPN for free. For example you can get the 1 or 2 year subscription of PureVPN at the moment and get 130% Cashback wi

Static IP address
Maybe use Sharkfin that offers something similar for $3.75 a month. But you have to run thru a VPN to reach the same IP each time. I’m considering trying this because I use Starlink and have the same issue. PureVPN offered it for $1.99 a month via a pop up

Just got fiber… but CGNAT killed my Plex dreams 😠— need alternatives (Tailscale, Cloudflare, or static IP?)
I installed PureVPN and run Plex through a split tunnel. It's simple, your parents don't have to install or do anything, only downside is it's another service to pay for. But it will solve your problem.

Anything Better (Safer) than OpenClaw?
Yes, PaioClaw. Managed OpenClaw hosting with sandboxed instances, built by the PureVPN parent company. Also cuts token costs by around 40-50% through automatic optimization which addresses your second question too.

Looking for a working VPN Reseller Panel
This is the cleanest option if you want something that just works. Some legit ones are PureVPN, TorGuard or VPN Unlimited. These give you a real backend dashboards, user provisioning, bandwidth tracking and billing integration.
