Another thing is all the extra features a lot of current ones seem to have. I'm a simple man, I don't need color, I don't need wi-fi, I don't need or necessarily want all these extras, I just want something to read books on you know? Ohhhhh a man after my own heart! This was a big factor in me selec

If you want simple, black-and-white, with front light and with buttons, then in the Western world outside the US, really your only options to buy new and have a semi-respectable brand are the various PocketBooks (Verse & Verse Pro are 6’’, Inkpad 4 is 8’’ and all those have buttons on the bottom alt

First I had a very small Sony (c 4”) that I mostly used to read fanfic. It used PRC files. Was a great little system to read everywhere. But prc files became rare and epub/mobi took the lead and the Sony was not so useful. Then I briefly had a Kindle 2 still with keyboard, but I gave it away because

I would recommend either the Kobo Clara BW or one of the PocketBook Verse models. They're both 6" models, so quite portable, and from good brands. Both are Linux-based but not Android-based. Android-based e-readers tend to have worse battery life, so I'd go for a non-Android e-reader if you're able

They are quite similar but the Verse is only slightly better. The Verse has USB-C, warm light, a bigger battery, which the Basic Lux 4 doesn't have. However, the Verse is also much heavier. When it comes to ereaders, “good” is somewhat subjective, depending on one’s personal needs / wishes. If you don’t have any existing purchased ebooks already, and if you have no particular needs beyond “reading text-based books”, I’d probably recommend a Kobo Clara BW or PocketBook Verse / Verse Pro

The clear case from my kindle basic more or less fits my verse color so I use that. I had bought some book cover stickers so taped those to the back of the pocketbook. I also have a really neat case that looks like a composition book. It has a stand and a strap, but it makes the verse color too heav

Your options, in brief, are: Android readers - they can use the Kindle app so your Kindle books will be easy to get to. However, I’m not at all sure an Android reader will give you ~12 hours of reading time with the frontlight on, especially if there’s cold weather. Boox Go 7 is great, and has butto

You say you want easy, good b/w screen with front & backlight, and ability to sync across devices. You say you don't want complicated work- arounds, and you want easy library access A 6" easy to handle e-reader that's light and has tons of features (if you want them), and very important, a well buil
