Weekly Question Thread (aka Friday New Climber Thread). ALL QUESTIONS GO HERE

IMO, just get a Grigri. The Revo can be a little... contrived. Neither are "safer" than the other, both are assisted braking devices. Climbing accidents rarely come from any kind of equipment failure, it is far more likely to be from user error and complacency. Do partner checks, check your knots, t

I remember that either HowNOT2, or Hard Is Easy asked Petzl directly why it's not included in the manual for Neox, and is it bad and they replied that it's fine to use it, but they didn't put it there "because it's not needed, thanks to the pulley".

I am a crappy belayer

Hi, As someone mentioned already - a slightly thinner (and newer rope) tends to belay easier as it feeds nicer through a device. Also make sure the belay device is suitable for the specific rope diameter. Not applicbale to sport climbing, but for instance my half ropes are 7,7mm and I always need to

I am a crappy belayer

If you got the money, the new Petzl Neox feeds like a tube style device that locks like a gri gri.
