What belay device should I get?

the only main difference is that the Neox has a spinning wheel that makes it easier to lead belay Also makes misuse way more dangerous in many cases. Most assisted belay devices have a slight chance of locking up even if you didn't hold the brake rope (in no circumstance you should let go of the bra

What belay device should I get?

Think of the mechanism for a second (it's basically the same in both Grigri and Neox), what would cause it to trigger if the brake strand isn't being loaded during a fall? In Grigri it's friction inside the mechanism that can trigger it but they've practically removed that option with the Neox as th

Daily Discussion Thread: spray/memes/chat/whatever allowed

Point to where I say the critiques of the vergo or tube devices are mechanical? I highlighted user habits with regard to hand and body placement. The vergo is designed for you to stand parallel with the wall, it is users who choose not to. All of the devices are designed for you to control the brake

Grigri+ rattling noise

There’s a loud rattle on my new Neox. I called Petzl and they grabbed one and said theirs rattles too. I tested it per the manual and it works fine. I just don’t like it. I have other gri Gris a checked them; they do not rattle as much as my new Neox.

Similarly, if the goal of the Neox is “tube style” simplicity, get a tube. Many brands offer semi auto locking (same class as Petzl’s products) without moving parts

What belay device should I get?

Edit: so you think that if I rap on a neox and take my hand off the rope im gonna hit the deck? That's unhinged. it will lock every time. You do you, but I wouldn't trust that it does. Petzl is quite clear about that one I think

Backing up the reverso for kids

I mainly use a Petzl Neox, but I've just bought a Mammut Smart 2.0 because they're on offer on Amazon, and wow, it locks up so easily. I've only just got it, but it seems it locks up more easily than either a Gri Gri or a Neox.
