Grigri question
Yup, this exactly my gym. Because we climb early on weekdays, often the employees outnumber climbers and the employees are struggling for reasons to look useful, so they interfere with weird feedback that’s not always correct. Also, I’m left handed and the Petzl grigri video for lefties shows you ca

Mast climbing with a GriGri
Petzl has not certified the Grigri for that application. Hence the giant lack in the Grigris instructions on how to use it for rope access.

Another round of grigri vs neox.
I just did a little digging around and Petzl says it's safe to belay from the top with a Neox as with a Grigri. They just emphasize to keep a hand on the brake strand as always. I much prefer using my ATC guide for all top belays and rappels. It pretty much mitigates any possibility of an ABD gettin

Quick Question about Auto-Blocking Belay devices
what do you expect to use the rope for? Those 6mm cords are hyper static and should never be used for climbing - only glacier travel and rappelling. Neither of which requires a Grigri or any other auto locking belay device. For rappelling, you'll be using two strands of the rope and either a munter

New Routesetting program - tips and tricks
2x static ropes, 1x dynamic 1 static is your backup, and has a fall arrest device like a petzl ASAP with an ASAPsorber attached The dynamic and other rstatic are your working and haul lines, you're already used to those The ASAP allows you to go hands free and no catastrophe knots which is lovely, j

New Petzl Belay Device
Eh maybe? Rig and ID are rated as "Auto Locking". Grigri is rated as "Assisted Braking". I have no idea how the grillon is rated when off of it's included rope. I know in single mode they say you can go hands free without tying it off, but that is in the context of the full assembly (device + rope)

Shouldn't make much of a difference as long as you keep pulling after the anti-panic engages. Alternatively you can manually push down on the brake with your thumb when lowering. Obviously not recommended by Petzl but the combination of thick ropes and lightweight children kinda doesn't leave you an

Yes, and this is officially supported by petzl - but with a big safety warning, the GriGri can unlock with too much weight - such as a full persons bodyweight - on the brake strand below. Official Petzl guidance: https://www.petzl.com/US/en/Sport/Rappelling-with-the-GRIGRI?ProductName=GRIGRI-PLUS

Weight limit sport climbing?
Even top roping with that difference will be hard. Leading with a resistor will still be quite a challenge and unsafe. You lead, then z clip or mount a resistor like the Ohmega and he follows to clean. Meanwhile he can start loosing weight and then lead when it comes to 40-50 kg of difference, but w

I would disagree with your assertion that grigris are safer than ATCs for the scenario you described. Backed up with a friction hitch, an ATC is quite safe since the friction hitch will keep the device engaged—even more so if you tie off with a MMO or tie a cat knot below the device. If you extend y
