I feel reluctant to buy more L mount glass
The honest answer is…the z8 and z9 are better cameras for the wildlife purpose. Albeit they are very large. My S5ii and Sigma 150-600 came to around 2.5k..that’s less than one Nikon Z8. So I’d expect it to be the better camera. The sigma 150-600 is a nice lens, the autofocus is slow though. The zoom

G9ii + full frame opinions?
Man that s1R is a dream camera for me. What do you use your g9ii for? I have a g9ii that I used mainly with the pano-leica 12-60mm for documentary and street/ portrait photography . I just picked up a used s5iix with the lumix s pro 50mm 1.4 and find it to be beautiful for stills and video. So far t

G9ii + full frame opinions?
The S1R cost less than my om-1. They have gotten pretty cheap used. If you can deal with a clunky slow camera with terrible ergonomics the a7r2 sensor is still fantastic today and you can buy them for around $600 (or at least you could back when I sold mine a year ago). I do prefer the output from m

G9ii + full frame opinions?
I own many cameras, but my LUMIX pairing is the S1R and the G9II. I was thinking about buying the S5II to get into L-mount, but Kenmore Camera had a used S1R for less than the S5II and it was in really good shape. While the batteries are different, and the S1R is a big camera, I really enjoy it for

Which camera ecosystem would you buy into tomorrow if you were starting fresh?
If I wasn’t doing architectural photography or fast paced action, it would be Lumix hands down. L-Mount now has more lenses than Canon’s RF line, AF is now very close to Sony performance, and they have much better ergonomics, colours and IBIS. They also now have live tethering which was another pain

Make this make sense, GH7 costs more than the full frame S5II
The GH7 is the flagship camera in the Lumix M43 lineup. Is has lots of features that need a high readout speed, fast internal processing and storing. The S5-II a simpler FF camera. It has a slow sensor, can't even read 4k60p from the full sensor. The S5-II is still a great camera and if your priorit

Pixel Shift for Macro Product Photography & Lighting Question.
I use pixel shift on a Lumix DC-S1R all the time for reproduction work with art and heritage material. Lumix’s system processes the 8 shots in camera outputting one 187mp raw file. I have probably focus stacked with them at some point; I frequently stitch them together for oversize items. They are a

Official Gear Purchasing and Troubleshooting Question Thread! Ask /r/photography anything you want to know! June 30, 2025
Hey guys, as I was really torn between the A7R series (Mk. 2 and Mk. 3) and the S5/S1R, I tend more towards a L mount camera from Panasonic as my second camera along my Lumix S5 for the moment. But now, the lens question. I already have the Lumix S 20-60 f/3.5-5.6 and the 50mm f/1.8 While I was expe

If you were in charge of lumix what’s the first thing you would do/change?
it's too late now, but I would have revamped the full frame line and clearly put each model in a distinct segment. After the S5iix, I would have started by releasing an S1Hii, as a pure cinema focused camera, barely hybrid- figure out internal NDs+IBIS, keep the OLPF, make it impossible to overheat,

Who else is still rocking the LUMIX S1R og?
I do! It's my guilty pleasure camera at the moment. I love pairing it with some Sigma iSeries glass. I also love using it with the Sigma 100-400, and for how bonkers cheap I got that lens, I have a hard time justifying it on my "main" (Nikon Z) system. When I moved to FF I was torn between the Nikon
