S1R owners in 2026, how’s it holding up?
Having owned the S1R and now the S1Rii, the original was a much nicer built camera, with great design touches, I much prefer it from a handling perspective. (I miss the top screen!!) But the S1R’s autofocus is pretty crap, if you’re doing static portraits and landscape work it’s fine but good luck d

Old Sony Users Who Switched To Panasonic; Any Regrets?
Over the past eight years, I’ve shot professionally with Sony cameras. I’ve used the a7III, a7IV, a7R V, and the FX3. They’re solid tools, no doubt about it. When Panasonic released the original Lumix S1, I decided to try it out of curiosity. I loved a lot about the camera, but the autofocus perform

Switching to Lumix S1RII (or S1II) for professional photography?
Hi, first of all I'd like to point out that based on your description in your post you can't go wrong with either of these great 2nd generation LUMIX cameras. If I may I'd like to share with you why we chose the S1 II over the S1R II. We tested the S1R II for a couple of months side by side to the S

Considering selling S5ii for a S1/S1R.
I use the S1R for wildlife photography and the autofocus is fine. I've never used it for sports photography tho. But if I can nail focus on birds in flight I think it will be fine. I think the autofocus on the S1 and S1R is made out to be worse than it is. It's definitely not amazing, but it's far f

Considering getting a S1r for general use photography as a back up to my S5ii, any thoughts
I actually did this a while back and if you can find a good deal on the S1R then I’d say go for it! It’ll make your S5ii feel like a toy though, it’s the best built Lumix camera I’ve ever felt and it’s so bloody comfortable in hand. It’s got so many nice features, Top LCD, backlit buttons, CFExpress

G9ii + full frame opinions?
The S1R cost less than my om-1. They have gotten pretty cheap used. If you can deal with a clunky slow camera with terrible ergonomics the a7r2 sensor is still fantastic today and you can buy them for around $600 (or at least you could back when I sold mine a year ago). I do prefer the output from m

G9ii + full frame opinions?
I own many cameras, but my LUMIX pairing is the S1R and the G9II. I was thinking about buying the S5II to get into L-mount, but Kenmore Camera had a used S1R for less than the S5II and it was in really good shape. While the batteries are different, and the S1R is a big camera, I really enjoy it for

All my gear stolen - advice needed on replacement body and lens?
Nikon Z7 mark 1 - it's a fantastic sensor (the Nikon D850's sensor in fact), but very affordable because autofocus is poor. I think people like the 14-30 f/4 S from Nikon, a used one might just fit in your budget (But you might have some space because the Z7i can be found under 1k). You could also l

Thinking of getting the A7RIV for stills only, right choice?
Oh yeah, lmao thats a cool technique tbh. I always shoot stopped down in a studio so I forgot that super long lenses have that problem. Nice you rarely see Sony shooters moving to lumix, they're a solid brand and give you the kitchen sink with their cameras. It might be worth waiting for the S1h ii,
