S1R II / S1 II or Sony A7V?

if you are mainly looking to shoot video, the s1ii is the clear best choice. for photography s1rii has higher resolution and better evf while a7V has better af, less rolling shutter and slightly better dynamic range. if you are going to shoot photos as much as video, the a7V might be the best option

upgrading from the GH5S? New S1II or wait for the FX3II?

There aren’t really any rumors about an FX3ii yet. I used a GH5/GH5s for years until 2021 when I got an A7siii due to the autofocus and low light ability. If Panasonic had come out with something with decent autofocus at that point I would probably still be with them. Though that being said I own 2x

Switching to Lumix S1RII (or S1II) for professional photography?

Hi, first of all I'd like to point out that based on your description in your post you can't go wrong with either of these great 2nd generation LUMIX cameras. If I may I'd like to share with you why we chose the S1 II over the S1R II. We tested the S1R II for a couple of months side by side to the S

S1II dynamic range for photos.

One of the issues with the Z6III (I own 2 for professional work) is the e-shutter and mechanical shutter have the same DR. Typically the mechanical shutter will give you higher DR. You can see it tests about a stop less than it could. But while on paper there is a difference, in actual use I hardly

Why doesn't the Nikon Z6III match the Panasonic S1II dynamic range

Some people are pointing to the dual gain output in Dynamic Range Boost mode, but that’s not it. Even with that disabled, the S1II has a good stop or so on the Z6III. I’m not an expert, but I believe this comes down to two things. S1II is taking longer to read the sensor. I’ve heard the S1II uses a

BMCC6K vs Lumix S1Rii 8k BRAW image?

I have a Pyxis 6K and a S1II (not S1RII). The OLPF really does make the difference. Helps take the edge off the 6K sensor and moire is quite noticeable on the Lumix cameras. S1II / S1RII footage is oversharpen, even the “raw” is quite sharp (but better than H.264). The theory is that Panasonic neede

Panasonic S1IIE for 2000€ good deal for video and photo work?

including a new sensor. But OP wants opinion on the S1IIE which has the same sensor as the S5II(x)? https://www.dpreview.com/articles/7326492092/panasonic-s1iie-vs-s5ii-video-handling-comparison Panasonic recently announced the S1IIE, a full-frame camera that has the same sensor – and therefore simi

Based upon improvements in their "S" cameras over the past 2 years, could Lumix become the Arri and Sony the Panavision of their market? In the feature film market, Panavision once dominated and Arri was mostly seen on lower tier indie productions Now, it's rare to see a Panni on any set.

I assume Panasonic will buy Arri. Nikon started implementing raw video then bought Red for next to nothing in the grand scheme of things. Arri has liscenced their version of log to Panasonic. If that deal turned out ok I could I don't see why it wouldn't go further. At this point I don't know if any

Soon to Lumix owner(again)

I was right there on weighing the options with the A7V too...and went with the S1II (and the adventure kit as you did) because I loved it after spending 6 days with the rental and it was the fStopper review that pushed me over the top: "To convince new shooters to choose Panasonic over the much more

Andrew Reid predicts Panasonic is soft-quitting the market for professional photographers and videographers

Lumix Pro has been closing for months. It's for a different market to what Panasonic is operating in. S1II uses a similar semi stacked sensor to the Nikon Z6III which is cutting edge (at the moment). The S1II is not in the same bracket, or price bracket, to the Z9/Z8 etc. Panasonic have said in inte
