Why *can't* the BMPCC4k be used for photography?

One of the common features of a photography centered camera is a whole lot of very small photo sites. This helps in post when you need to blow the image up for production needs. Many good cinema cameras, like the Arri Alexa and the BMPCC4K, use very large photo sites that have less noise to achieve

Stupid Question about Equipment + Shoutout to PMI team

Hi mate I’m a tv camera op working in documentaries, If they’ve got decent budget the fx3 is probably what they are using but honestly that would be absolutely overkill for what you are intending to do. Get a cheaper Sony A7S or even an old Panasonic lumix GH5s which would be perfectly fine for just

Seeking GH5 upgrade ideas for low-light concert productions

GH5s. No stabe if that's important. The GH6 is a beast of a camera. The major thing people complain about is the autofocus not being PDAF. But, compared to the GH5... it's amazing. People love the colors. There's also a streaking issue that every video I've ever seen the people admit they don't see

How far should I raise the ISO?

The get the best dynamic range with a wider color gamut and with true 10 bit 4:2:2 capture is from using the HLG mode. The other picture modes truncate the pixel bit depth somewhat and only capture within the older Rec 709 color space. It's a flaw in the GH5's design. Panasonic added HLG in a firmwa

How To Defeat Canon Red Skin Tones

Lumix has heightened reds but I've not seen that effect skin tones in GH4 and GH5s. The best skin tones I've ever seen right out of the camera are from Lumix.

Amateur trying to pick between GH7 or S5iix for outdoor camping style videos sometimes at night

I use the Sony a7iv for my videos, it’s a beast in low light and I’ve had it in severe storms, no problem. Another good option for you would be the Sony a6700, it’s a bit cheaper but still outstanding in low light. Get a good prime lens that opens up to f1.8 or more and you’ll bet set. Sigma makes a

Hybrid Camera?

S5IIx, S1 II, GH7 - all fantastic. If you’re already invested in MFT glass rent a GH7 before you leave that ecosystem. Worth considering getting an FF Lumix to nicely colour match video with your GH5s (I use an S5IIx, S5, and GH5II on lots of shoots, the GH5 is a dedicated B/C video cam).
