Any Lumix Cameras Around $2000 That are Just as Good, If Not Better Than The Sony FX30?
Disclosure: I own the G9 II and shoot on GH7's and FX30's for work. I'm gonna have some bias towards the Panasonic offering so take this with a grain of salt. The G9 II is probably the closest you can get in the Lumix lineup at a cheaper price point. It's currently on sale at Amazon for 1.6k body on

What body to get next?
G9 is the cheapest camera I could tolerate for video but you have to use Lumix lenses or the autofocus will suck. If I had mostly OM lenses an OM3 would be the cheapest video camera I would want to use. G9II is objectively the best value MFT video camera. But if you’re using Olympus lenses on it the

I got caught in the L10 hype but ended up buying an S9 instead
We are both hybrid shooters so video is pretty important. And I just got done shooting an event with my G9ii and the 50-200 and got tripod/monopod like shots at 600mm full frame equivalent with crop zoom handheld thanks to IBIS. I think a lot of the target audience who mostly want a travel photograp

What do I miss out on by going the OM-5 II vs the OM-3?
I rented the OM5ii for a weekend and was very impressed with it. ND filters, Pro Capture, hi-res mode, focus stacking...... what more could you want? It has most everything you could need and nothing you don't. I was very impressed with the image quality and color science. I usually shoot with the P

Should I upgrade from the GH5 to the S9 for concert coverage?
Short of the GH7, the G9II is the best M43 video camera you could get, hilariously so considering Panasonic marketed it as a photography-oriented camera and yet jam-packed it with about as many features as a video-centric camera like the S5IIX. The only major tradeoff is a lack of active cooling, bu

Is there something better than Lumix GX85 in the similar price range and size?
You have conflicting priorities. In a lot of ways most phones are better than a GX85 for video - autofocus, formats, etc. GX85 has very outdated autofocus technology and video formats. I cannot describe it as “good”. I describe Panasonic G9 as “OK” and Panasonic G9II as “good”. Phones are on G9II le

Update on Oly 75mm 1.8
For the resolution and robust features, and it being the most recent m43 body from Panasonic, which means it'll get firmware updates for longer. I was initially considering a G9ii as well, but I didn't mind paying the difference for the GH7 to have the additional video function, CFExpress (which I u

VND Stops for OMLOG400
If you’re used to FF you’ll find OM cameras are more sensitive to ND range for a few reasons. You have roughly 2 stops less dynamic range at the sensor. That means more ND needed in bright conditions. You are aperture diameter limited - the fastest f1.2 autofocus lenses roughly give you the low ligh

Olympus E-PM2 - first few hours
At the very high end the Panasonic G9ii and GH7 have the highest resolution but Olympus went with a 20mp stacked sensor for the OM-1 and OM-3 which is faster and with better tracking. So it partly depends on what you want to shoot, I believe Olympus is better for birds and wildlife and sports, Panas

G9 II + OM System 100-400mm f/5-6.3 II — anyone running this cross-brand combo for wildlife/dog sports?
That is so kind of you! Pleased to meet you! My wife competes in Hoopers, and our life revolves a lot around this community. She competes with our mighty Boston Terrier and currently trains its successor Lurcher (Border Collies + Whippet). I do not consider myself an expert in the field, but can con
