Why is it that nobody ever mentions any camera but olympus?

Few factors : - Lumix has always been a bit of a video-centric brand, ever since the GH1 released. Most of why peop[le bought Lumix cameras for was very often the excellent video specs compared to the price point, and not really their photo capabilities (which are still good) - Olympus has a HUGE ba

Need a "dad camera"--do I go good, better, or best? G97, G9ii, or S5ii?

One aspect of the G9ii or G97 that you might enjoy is that the smaller glass makes it easier to take the camera everywhere. I highly recommend picking up the Panasonic 12-32mm lens. I’ve owned crazy expensive glass, but that performance to size to price of that lens really delights me.

Which one to send back…

I was literally in this same boat about a month ago but with the Panasonic G97 and GH7. In the end I went with the G97 and bought a 20mm anamorphic AF 20mm lens, got a 85mm 2.1 lens and last week got a 50mm 1.05. Save money and buy more lenses now and maybe a few years from now, you can revisit anot

Features wishlist thoughts OM-System (OM-3 user)

I looked very closely at the OM-3 twice this year (before buying a G97 and G9II respectively) and the two things holding me back were: Warranty - Panasonic gives you 3 years warranty just by registering for free, and you get 4 if you buy on their own website and register. Like most companies they do

OM5 ii Alternative Recommendations

Panasonic Lumix G97 fits all of your list except the pocket-size form factor. It runs around $850 with a 12-60mm kit lens that's pretty good. Leaves you some money for a nicer and/or smaller lens.

What would you recommend for photography for a beginner ?

I just answered another post so I’ll give you the same recommendation. The Panasonic g97 is running about 600 usd on B&H with the 12-60 kit lens. Both the camera body and lens are weather sealed. The lens is generally well regarded. At 24-120mm ff equivalent it runs from a wide angle to a short tele

Hiking photography

I have several friends who are wildlife photographers. TBH, getting really good wildlife photos typically requires high quality long lenses ($$$ + weight) and a good camera body ($$$ + weight). This isn't what you want so I would recommend getting a reasonably priced micro four thirds camera body an

What camera is a good choice for school performances?

B&H has the Panasonic G97 at 600 right now with a 12-60mm kit lens. That's a ff equivalent focal range of 24-120. The lens isn't the fastest but it is widely regarded as a good lens from what I'm reading. The camera and lens are both weather sealed. It's a good camera for photos and, as I understand

Why is no one buying the Lumix G97

In the US market, it’s only sold from Panasonic bundled with the 12-60, just like the G95 iirc. Most buyers in the US who previously bought the G85/95 likely already have the kit 12-60 or even the PL 12-60. Not to mention, it’s basically a G95 with a better display, so little justification for a G90

Canon or fujifilm?

Honestly the G97 with the 12-60 zoom is way better value. You can evern get a 25mm f1.7 along with it. https://www.lcegroup.co.uk/New/Panasonic-LUMIX-G97-with-12-60mm-Lens-(DC-G97ME)_184655.html https://www.lcegroup.co.uk/New/Panasonic-Lumix-G-25mm-F1.7-ASPH-Black-(H-H025E-K)_16680.html
