Is this pack overkill?

Laughs in 34 or 42 L. Enjoy the pack. It's fine. It's light, right? A marginal amount of extra bulk isn't that big a deal. Did you load all the stuff you mentioned for the picture? Granted, everyone lies a bit about backpack volume but I think somewhere in the 20's is perfect for day hiking. If it's

It fits! Osprey Stratos 34L is the winner!

I’ve used the Stratos 34L on several Caminos over the last 10 years. I purchased mine in 2015. The style has slightly changed, but it is an awesome pack! Never had a problem with it as a carry-on either. The other pack I have used on Caminos is the Osprey Hikelite 32L. It’s also a great pack, but the

Am I making a mistake taking a 58L bag ?

Kinda shocked by the answers here tbh. I feel like most ppl are trying to make you feel better rather than actually helping you. Im in the middle of my camino atm. Ive been paying attention to everyone’s backpack throughout the way because im a backpack nerd and most (more than 80%) of folks’ daypac

What volume backpack for long days in the mountains?

I love my Osprey Stratos 34. It's a bit big in the summer but when I start getting into layers and maybe microspikes it's perfect. Definitely try it on though: some people find them too narrow. It's not just about volume. Again, especially when layers and any metallic gear get into the picture, a go

Help picking a backpack please!

Where in the PNW?? Given outdoor education I think you're going to want something on the larger/burlier side. I love my Osprey Stratos 34. You can buy rain covers wherever. They're not very specific to packs. The Stratos, at least mine, does come with one though. Worth mentioning that the higher loa

What size backpack did you use in Litres for the TMB? (Hut to Hut, no luggage transfers)

Osprey Stratos 34L. Plenty of room. Could go smaller.

Do I need a daypack?

Maybe. OP didn't say which 34l Osprey pack he has. The stratos 34 and manta 34 both weigh more than the teton oasis 22. Also the Ospreys 3-4 times the price. However you get top quality and probably better zippers with the Osprey which is what I don't like about mine. I wasn't telling OP which bag t

Intl carryon Economy Confusion

I’m doing this exact trip in a few days. From my research… the US to Amsterdam legs have massive overhead bins. The Amsterdam to Porto legs are a bit smaller, but I was just on a 787-800 two days ago and the bins looked fine to me. (My tickets show it’ll be either a Boeing 787-800 or 787-900) I’m pl

Looking for recommendations for a daypack

Like... When you're backpacking? For day hiking from home or on a trip that's about day hiking, I love my Osprey Stratos 34. Also consider the 24 L size and the Manta and maybe the Talon 22. I got a REI Flash 22 about a year ago that I like way more than I thought I would. It fits in other luggage o
