This is all about overhead sized bags. Load transfer and under seat bags aren’t happening. Reduce the weight as much as possible! Get a pack with a load transferring harness that comes in various torso lengths or adjustable torso length for a proper fit. That will put 80% of the weight on your hips.

10/9/25 edit - I used this on our two week multi location trip and it worked very well! The clips to hold the 15l daypack on the front worked really well to balance the load on my shoulders and free up my hands to help family with their bags up and down stairs and on and off the train. Looks perfectly possible to me. The Osprey Farpoint will work for overhead carryon and help you handle the weight. Definitely pile up your packing list items in a box and weigh it. old thread, but i removed my wire from my farpoint 55 for the exact same reasons and have flown all over the globe with it. i liked the bag so much better too, and i cant even tell you if it impacted the weight/carry functionality at all because it was never an issue. the hip strap still worked grea

We have Osprey fairview/farpoint 55L - as long as within 7kg limit. A friend of mine owns a cabin zero 40L and works well for her handcarry for travelling around
