This is all about overhead sized bags. Load transfer and under seat bags aren’t happening. Reduce the weight as much as possible! Get a pack with a load transferring harness that comes in various torso lengths or adjustable torso length for a proper fit. That will put 80% of the weight on your hips.

10/9/25 edit - I used this on our two week multi location trip and it worked very well! The clips to hold the 15l daypack on the front worked really well to balance the load on my shoulders and free up my hands to help family with their bags up and down stairs and on and off the train. My son got on

I dislike zip-on attached daypacks like the Osprey Farpoint 55 for a few reasons. 1.) They put weight in exactly the worse place possible, out and away from your spine. 2.) The attached daypack is useless for carrying anything valuable because it's out-of-sight and out of your control. 3.) I don't w

Looks perfectly possible to me. The Osprey Farpoint will work for overhead carryon and help you handle the weight. Definitely pile up your packing list items in a box and weigh it. If the box is roughly 22”x14”x9” you can get a good idea of packed volume at the same time. Do you need a puffy? I woul

You can easily get by with a 35-40 L carry-on sized backpack that is specifically designed for travel and a small personal item. I dislike zip-on attached daypacks like the Osprey Farpoint 55 for three reasons. 1.) They put weight in exactly the worse place possible, out and away from your spine. 2.

It was simply not nearly as comfortable and practical as a proper hiking backpack would be. The design also meant that the electronics I carry were the farthest from my back (I had the Farpoint 55 with a dayback) which is the opposite of how a backpack should be loaded. The straps also made it diffi

I had the Osprey Farpoint 55 for a year or two until I sold it. The longer I used it the less its design seemed to make sense: The daypack always ended up being very heavy while being farthest away from your back. At that point the straps did not support its weigh very well. The main compartment was

old thread, but i removed my wire from my farpoint 55 for the exact same reasons and have flown all over the globe with it. i liked the bag so much better too, and i cant even tell you if it impacted the weight/carry functionality at all because it was never an issue. the hip strap still worked grea

We have Osprey fairview/farpoint 55L - as long as within 7kg limit. A friend of mine owns a cabin zero 40L and works well for her handcarry for travelling around
