Boox palma phone might be coming soon :o

The problem is their software updates. I think it’s fine for an e-reader device to have older software as long as the apps for it still work, but I do think there’s a line there between e-reader and phone. Personally, I wouldn’t want to use a phone that isn’t using at least year old or newer softwar

Why do these devices all have such terrible touch encoders?

... except there is no such thing as a capacitive touchscreen encoder. These touchscreens usually use an off-the-shelf IC which communicate with Android via i2c, and I've never heard of "using rejects"--they either work or they don't, and the rejected ones are almost 100% bad. Always do your own res

Reverse ghosting Tab Mini C

yeah, this guy is sort of-kind of on the right track but he goes off the rails thinking that everything TCONB is problematic. a lot of TCONB devices are out there, not just Onyx, and none of them have this issue. this doesn't happen with the TCONB Tab Ultra C Pro (from around the same time as the TM

New wekind case for Boox Palma is on the wayyy

I think you should get rid of the “handle” part on the back so that it can just be smooth. Then you can have a full MagSafe ring for the detachable cover. I was going to order the regular version, but that back handle sticking out ruins being able to attach a MagSafe pop socket (which is how I usual

Does mangadex run well on ereaders?

You mean via the Web Browser feature of some E-readers? I have a BOOX Palma - its an 'e-reader' but is a full android 'small' tablet. So it can run firefox or other android browsers and let me read manga over the web that way. It can also run Mihon or other manga-apps. Using an E-ink screen, is both

The X4 or other e-readers for a first-timer?

I wouldn't recommend it. If you want something in the same kind of form factor, I'd go for either Boox Palma or Inkpalm. If you want something cheap, you can get older kindles for under 50 bucks, anything with a 300 PPI screen is still great (basically everything from the past decade). The X4 has no

Just checked on the AI assistant to see if it was still down, Coze has now been replaced with Open AI GPT3 and acts as you'd expect for typical GPT3 AI's

Who buys a book reading device based on AI's political views. Mind you you can install any AI app on the boox palma.

The Boox Palma 2 is incredibly fragile and should be avoided

I had been contemplating a palma pro two, but all the reports, including yours, have convinced me to stay away. Sorry to hear you've had a bad experience. Most of the boox products I've bought were good.

The durobo krono is literally a boox.. lol

It's branded as durobo and all privacy policies and such mention durobo and Netherlands. Nothing about boox but there are things in the os I recognize from the palma 2 os. Feedback section in settings is there and also the broken dark mode/invert color that was from the palmas also is on this.

Reminder to avoid Bigme products (like the plague)

I tried to return my boox Palma 2 Pro and on their website it says customers are eligible for PARTIAL refunds, which I find disgusting. I just sold it on eBay. I didn’t want to do any more business with boox.
