OM-1 Mark III Wish List

GPS for the love of God. The EOS 6D had it 14 years ago, the E-M1X had it in 2019. If they can fit it in the TG series, they can fit it in an OM-1.

Upgrade Question

There's very little difference in AF performance between all IMX27X based cameras (that's E-M5 III, OM-5, OM-5 II, E-M1 II, E-M1 III and E-M1X). The E-M1X is the only one with unique processing dedicated to subject detection but with only 121 AF points it is still primitive compared to modern camera

So, does this mean an MFT lens lineup revival?

I don’t think that’s likely. E-M1X was a bit of a bet that failed because non-M4/3 users had a hard time understanding why they would buy such a large camera if the sensor was still half the area of a full-frame body. Olympus did pack the extra space inside it with as many features as they could at

What do you recommend for an all around beginners camera focused on nature?

They’re mostly all the same. Just get whichever one you want and stick with it forever. I’d probably avoid the cheapest Canons and cheapest Sony’s. The Nikon 50-250mm is a very good lens considering what it is. They also have a cheap but also very good 12-28mm The cheapest Canons like the R100 nerf

E-M1X or OM-1 for Macro

The answer to that question isn't quite as easy as one might think. The OM-1 would likely be the right answer for many people, but it depends on how you do your macro. If want to do a lot of single shot images of less-than-cooperative insects, the OM-1 has a leg up. Its AF system is generally faster

DJI 15mm f1.7 on the OM-3

Yeah, i hope all the older brothers olympus and lumix got fully compatibility, aka IS lens options in both cameras, aperture rings and i think nothing else 😅 with olympus 100-400, 12-100 and 300 f4 i cannot turn off the lens IS switch on the GH6-GH7 without turning off all ibis options, or the same

All in one hiker..please help

I used to own those lenses and ran them on an E-M1X and E-M1mkII. The size is great, but the performance per dollar isn’t there. The Oly 7-14 is good, the Nikon 12-28 is better. The 12-40 is fine, but at f/11 for landscapes, not much different over the 16-50 kit lens (or the Panasonic 12-32) and the

Just a short reminder…

I don’t doubt that but when it comes to the E-M1x it’s used price is at least to me significantly less appealing (tends to go for about $1200 the few listings that pop up around here), the leap to a newer OM body is not huge (especially not if you go used, like OM-1 Mk i or so)

What keeps you using m43? (is it for me? (my reasoning included!))

Oh yeah, if you go pro, I see no reasons for anyone not to get FF. You will probably get a cleaner file out of the camera and a slightly easier and faster workflow. Definitely a plus when you run a business. Also, name recognition is definitely a thing in the photography world. Having a Nikon, Canon
