Yeah I can see why it seems like we’ve had 3 cameras that are the same that have slowly chipped away at what was needed. I don’t think that’s especially fair when looking at the E-M5.3 and the OM-5. They are based on two different “1 series” cameras, E-M1.2 and E-M1.3. The major missteps were: The E

Right, as a fellow Sony 20-70 f/4 owner and M43 shooter, let me share my thoughts… I own the Sony A7C (so, a step up from your A7II) along with the 20-70 f/4, plus a few other lenses. I also have an OM-5 paired with the 12-45 f/4 Pro. When I bought the Sony 20-70 f/4, my intention was to replace the

Both are great cameras, and the autofocus on either is perfectly usable. That said, it’s not on the level of more modern systems, or even Sony’s APS-C cameras from the same era like the A6300. Ultimately, the decision should come down to the lenses you plan to use, because that will have a big impac

Be aware that on other forums (e.g. mu-43 or dpreview) there seems to be a thought that single auto focus is actually superior on the non-stacked sensor cameras. Some weird interplay of the CDAF and PDAF systems, yada yada. I had the OM-1i and have had the EM-5iii and OM-5ii and truthfully didn't no

Buy OM-5 bundled with 14-150mm f4-5.6 PRO lens and you are good to go. OM5 camera body is very capable and paired with lens mentioned above, you will be able to capture almost everything life will prepare for you. You will be slightly limited only in low light photography (prime lenses are kings the

The OM-5 Mark II is the smallest camera OM System sells new. It's a capable camera, but autofocus is not as good as OM-1 or OM-3. I have the first version of the 17mm f1.8. That's a good lens for your application. The version II should be very similar, adding weather sealing but deleting manual focu

Welcome to the Micro Four Thirds camera world! I would advise to go with the OM-5 if you can. It's more recent and provides some nice computational features that you might use later. Besides, buying used will give a better chance of finding an OM-5 in good condition with less shutter count than EM-5

Especially with good daylight the video of an OM5 is better then any iPhone.I know because I used the EM5 III for a long time.I wanted to say in low light the EM5 III footage suffers, but the phone does as well and even worse. Use the 4K 24p cinematic (the other codecs are pretty bad ngl) and a 1.8

The higher-end OM-System cameras definitely have better build quality. If you want something that feels similar to the film OM-1, the OM System OM‑3 would be a great choice. The body is made almost entirely of magnesium alloy, with the only exception being the back panel, so it feels very solid, dur

I now have the 40-150 f2.8 and I don't think the hit rate is any different so it definately seems like the OM system cameras in general struggle with this type of subject. Detection in the field is excellent but does not unfortunately translate to actual hit rate.
