TIL two weeks after being appointed CEO of Olympus, Michael Christopher Woodford blew the whistle on Olympus after he was fired for repeatedly questioning suspicious transactions and involving external auditors, exposing one of the biggest "loss-hiding arrangements in Japanese corporate history".

I have owned a camera from almost every system being produced but I always find myself drawn back to Olympus M43 cameras. I have a Fujifilm XH2S but I seem to prefer my Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark III, to the point that I'm seriously considering selling my Fuji kit to get an OM-1. It's so sad how Olympus

Full-frame aperture equivalency stupidity

I mostly shoot with Fuji these days, but for a long time was an Olympus shooter in the 4/3 days and still have a GX85 that I like. I really like m4/3. I've used full frame cameras. There are clear benefits to the various systems, but the differences are not always as great as some may believe. The e

Gear that was actually end game for you.

Four thirds - I shoot most sensor formats all the way up to a GFX100S. The color from my ancient E500 with a Kodak CCD is very pleasing to my eyes, and the lenses are spectacular - and cheap. Resolution is fine for sharing online and making small prints. The spiked my curiosity - I really like the c

Why is it that nobody ever mentions any camera but olympus?

Few factors : - Lumix has always been a bit of a video-centric brand, ever since the GH1 released. Most of why peop[le bought Lumix cameras for was very often the excellent video specs compared to the price point, and not really their photo capabilities (which are still good) - Olympus has a HUGE ba

Switching from FF to mFT

Ok, I don't have vast experience, but here's how I see it. It's gonna be a bit of a wall of text, sorry. Question: Do you care about low light and/or shallow depth of field? If yes, you might want to look into lighter alternatives for your camera. Shooting at f1.2 M43 would behave similarly to f2.5

OM 12-100 and 12-200 vs Nikon Superzooms?

The 12-100 is a superb lens which really has no weaknesses, except that it is a largeish lens for the MFT system. I love mine, and it is my go-to lens in most situations. My go bag has two bodies: an OM-1 with the 300 f/4 PRO and an OM-1 II with the 12-100.

Why does he have tiny holes on his face?

My camera is the OM-1 Mark ii and the lens was OM System 90mm 1:3.5 MACRO IS PRO. It’s my favorite bug camera! I also use an Olympus bellows lens and a laowa macro lens for my other photos. I have some of my shots on my photography page on instagram ( @Violetsandlenses ) if you’d like to check them

I think modern OM system stuff is meant to be pretty fine. There's not been a huge amount of development across M43 sensors though. The OM1 and Lumix G9 both seem pretty great for their markets tbf

Discussion - see below

As someone who's had a camera in their hand for more than 35 years, I like that OM has a very nice simple selection of bodies and a rather amazing array of lenses. I've owned Minolta, Kodak, Pentax, Fuj, Sony, Canon, Leica, Nikon, Panasonic and Olympus. Even with bigger bodies like the OM-1 the m43

In a dill of a pickle - Unsure what to do!

I would look into acquiring on OM System OM1 mk1, either new or used. It should be way cheaper than an OM3 and has better build quality. Check the stats and compare with what you need. If you like the OM m43 ecosystem, you can't go wrong with at least exploring this option. I got mine about 3 years
