Console controllers are a great example of convergence to one ideal form factor without losing uniqueness and personality.
I find it a bit shameful Nintendo didn’t stick with the Wii U Pro controller layout and instead stuck with that ABXY layout. I detest that layout so much and moreso when games just don’t cooperate at rebinding stuff with them

Controller Recommendation for the Steam Deck
My fav is still the WiiU pro controller it just messes with me using the nintendo layout on PC so I've switched to a dualshock as that doesn't mess with the muscle memory.
