Ready for FX5?
Seriously: Who cares about raw? It’s a format that makes sense if you shooting with a bigger production. But a fx5 / Nikon ZR / Blackmagic is not a camera I would choose for a more serious production anyway This small cameras are for small crew, run and gun, and I don’t want to think about the file

Switched From Canon To Nikon, I think I made the right choice.
"....looking on upgrading to the Nikon Z6ii or Z5ii next year." The Z6II will not feel like much of an upgrade. When you do get around to upgrading, don't bother with anything other than an EXPEED 7 body - they are an order of magnitude better in the AF department. Currently that means a Z50II, Z5II

FX5 Thoughts?!?
Meanwhile Nikon ZR users constantly complain about the file sizes of RAW. With the cost of data storage today, I'd much rather have compressed RAW then a full day shoot requiring 7tb's of hard drive space.

is there any reason to buy A7SIII since we have Nikon ZR just released?
Look up Gerald Undones video on the ZR. If you actually work with the camera the FX3/S3 is still a much better option for your workflow and ofcourse lens availability. Having internal RAW is nice but the filesizes are definitely not. ZR had some issues as well with the image quality of smaller files

Will Lumix Panasonic Bring the Next Big Leap? It is time for a S1H II.
The Nikon ZR is a bloggers camera not a pro cinema camera. Weird card slot choices, no full size HDMI? The S1ii is still a better option to me.

What Would You Like To See If Viltrox Were To Actually Make A Camera?
Well, if we're dreaming: Sony FX3 size L mount 24mp stacked sensor IBIS Panasonic levels of active stabilization built-in EVND filter great AF - at least Nikon levels of performance 6k open gate at 60fps uncropped downsampled 4k120fps dual CFe card slots support for external recording to SSD over US

Do we think Nikon ZR beats S1ii for Image quality?
Nikon ZR is a one trick pony from what I seen. But it does that trick incredibly well. If you want Red Raw in a body that can do autofocus and has ibis, the ZR is that. However, the internal H265 codec is soft on it so the image quality only looks amazing in RAW. You’ll have to commit to the R3D lar

Upgrade?
Zr would be a downgrade imo. The r3d files are a bit of a gimmick in my opinion since it's not the same as using a red camera, it's an optimised version for Nikon cameras and cuts corners to work on a 1000 dollar camera, including dynamic range among lots of other things. For example the files are 1

The Nikon ZR question
Today I learned the ZR doesn't have the normal r3d compression ratios. Red cracked how to shoot raw video a decade ago and I assumed was why Nikon bought them. Wonder if they couldn't make it work in the new camera or they choose to omit that feature to protect the Komodo line but either way that's

Nikon ZR firmware update ?
I actually think, with the new FX5 out that can shoot Raw in a very compressed codec (C2), Nikon will HAVE to offer a more compressed R3D, not just a H265 in Log3G10... otherwise people will not buy the ZR. Of course, the ZR is less than half of the price of the FX5, but still...
