Thoughts on the fx5? Are you guys gonna get one?

It’s all quality of life improvements at the end of the day. I would assume all of us here are trying to tell a good story. You can tell an amazing story with a camera that came out five or even 10 years ago. The FX5’s image doesn’t automatically tell a better story. The RAW recording doesn’t automa

Impact of rumoured Canon R6iii for us Lumix Users

Still no slow motion open gate and still no third party lenses—plus no LUMIX stabilization. Internal false color and LUMIX Lab/Real Time LUT are also very very important features for me. Canon has definitely piqued my interest, but they’re still a few years behind LUMIX. Same with Nikon ZR.

Why the Pocket 4K needs a V2

For what it’s worth I’m a full time videographer (not cinematographer) working closely with brands such as Amazon, Uber, Honda, Tourism Australia etc. My daily is the pocket 4K, original, with the ultra speed booster for a full frame circle and I have to say the new Nikon ZR, canon R5II etc are clos

Upgrade?

I haven't worked with both, but I have extensive experience with the 6K. If I was ever looking to buy another camera, there are only three questions: what form factor do I want, does it have more dynamic range, and how well does it cut with Black Magic colour. The only reason I'd buy a camera with s

FX5?

Sony doesn’t care that the other cameras are cheaper. Way more people are already invested into the Sony ecosystem with the fx3 and they aren’t worried to lose market share to the Nikon users because the ZR has everything we want but nothing we need

Upgrading camera for freelance video work: FX3, Nikon ZR, or stretch for the new FX5?

IMO the Canon R6V is the discount king at the moment. Extremely good performance all around with the main issue being that its IBIS is pretty bad with lots of edge distortion. Also, Canon has a limited lens choice and I personally don't like the feel of much of their RF glass. One other consideratio

DP’ing First Feature

You'll need a basic camera team and a DIT as you'll have to shoot RAW with the ZR. If you want to shoot prores or other codecs, you need a different camera, as the internal processing of the Nikon Zr is not good enough. I'd personally try and go with a more ergonomic package as shooting a feature ca

Nikon Zr objectively a better camera than the Fx5

Can they bring Opengate? Nikon has never promised opengate. There might be reasons they choose not to mention it... Overheating, rolling shutter... Perhaps the processor just can't handle Opengate? The Nikon ZR was in development prior to Nikon acquiring Red.

Thank you Viltrox for making this lens

A nikon Z5ii does 99% of what the ZR does in real world use, while costing at least 500 bucks less.Let me give you this advice: Do not try to save money on glass or batteries. They are worth every penny, while the camera body will be considered old every 2-3 years. I bet the Nikon version of the 26m
