That's the thing with the Z8, it's a chonker. Smaller than a Z9, but still. Nikon really should do a Z7iii. Add the newer autofocus electronics into the Z7 body - It would NOT compete with the shutterless Z8/9. I would buy that camera.

Fuji autofocus is the worst of the mainstream companies. Fuji weather sealing is unreliable. I didn't find the 40mp on the X-T5 anywhere near as croppable as my Nikon Z7 (45mp). If you are thinking about going with the Z6II or Z7II I would recommend looking at the Z6 and Z7 too. The used prices of these are ridiculuous and nikon didn't really improve the af going to second generation significantly. That makes the Z6, Z7 a very good deal if you can live with one memory card.

A D780 is, for all intents and purposes, a DSLR Z6. They have the same sensor, the D780 has much better on-sensor AF for live view (comparable to z6 AF) plus a bunch of other features that mirrorless cameras tend to get.
