Now is the time to hold Nikon accountable for the third party lens situation

You can vote with your wallet. I owed solely Nikon cameras my whole life and enjoyed every single one of them, but i only can choose between the (overpriced) nikon 1st party lenses and a few Tamron lenses that don't overlap the focal lengths of the Nikon lenses, I'm switching to Sony or another comp

Mirrorless D500

High-end crop sensor, i.e. north of $2,000 USD, is a hard sell. Even Fujifilm, the most successful crop sensor vendor, couldn't move X-H2 and X-H2S bodies when all of their other cameras were regularly out of stock. I also think Nikon was pretty successful in moving their higher-end DX DSLR customer

Is Nikon Z the best camera series or am I missing something?

Well, you said the purpose was to split hair so I answered. One could also say the Z8 is only marginally better than the Z6 III for twice the price, and actually has a worse IBIS and EVF. The Z8 has 2 different slots, one takes CF, the other takes SD. The Z9 has 2 CF-only slots. Sony has hybrid slot

What camera should I buy?

Skip the first gen Z6, the Z6II is a bare minimum. But if budget is tight, go for a D750 (FX) or D500 - but the D500 (DX) will tie you to crop lenses, while a full frame (FX) camera will give you the option to use the same lenses on mirrorless (if recent lenses) with the FTZ adapter. Using a Z6 pure

camera advice

The original z6 is pretty much the first z camera Nikon ever made, and it has all the problems that a "we don't know what this should be yet" camera has. Which is why it got replaced with the z6-ii two years later, and then the z6-iii a more normal four years after that. It was a necessary camera to

What camera should I buy?

16-85 and although it’s not the best lens for it So, the 16-85 probably is the best (or at least one of the best) middle zoom lens for a D5100. The 16-80 f/2.8-4E, 17-55 f/2.8G, and 16-85 f/3.5-5.6G are generally considered the three sharpest and best performing mid zooms made by Nikon for F mount D

Help... Need a D700 upgrade (but I LOVE those colours)!

This is a fair question to ask, I'll try to answer it as honestly as I can : - no, the benefits in resolution, high ISO noise and dynamic range do not matter to me. The D700 was already a low light monster when I first got it, and I have absolutely zero issues shooting with that camera for every asp

Upgrade Question - D780/Z5II/Z6III

That's a massive amount of fear mongering. Nikon makes very reliable equipment that lasts for years, if not decades, after a warranty has expired and parts are no longer available from Nikon. Only fools buy camera equipment as investments are they rarely if ever sell for more than what you purchased

Lumix 20mm f1.7ii at CP+

Absence of IBIS in cheap canikons is pure marketing pressure. There is no technological reason to not have IBIS in all those cameras. You can see it on Sony or Fuji perfectly. Size identical, but cheap models do not have IBIS just to push customers into more expensive models. Nikon just does not wan

What camera to upgrade to?

You don't really have a lot of choices then. On the Sony side, at $800, it would be a6600 or maybe A7 III, but I'm not sure where you're finding a 70-200 f2.8 and an adapter to Sony that presumably needs to support AF for $500 total. On the Nikon side, the only real options in Mirrorless are probabl
