Most photographers don’t need better gear, they need better taste
This is the part I strongly disagree with. The difference is keeper rate and expectations. With a modern higher end mirrorless like Sony a7v Nikon Z6III or something, even a beginner can get like a 40% keeper rate, and a moderately skilled amateur can get into like 70% rate. But if you're shooting a

Nikon z6 for everything
The D7200 is only 90 g (3 oz) heavier than the Z6. If weight is your main concern and want to get into mirrorless, take a look at the Z50ii. It is over 300 g lighter than the D7200 plus it has the most current generation processor (Expeed 7), which the Z5ii also has. It has much better autofocus, fa

I always tought my Z6ii was enough..until i brought my Zf to the Track!
I had to shoot an Indy race for assignment one time and i had a d850 and z7ii. My goodness I hated the z7ii so badly, the D850 became my main body for that entire weekend. When I got a Z9 for a follow up race, my goodness that was a night and day difference... And the zero black out EVF allowed to m

So Long to the Z7 Platform?
On a settings banks equipped modern camera (EXPEED 5 and later at least, might go back to the EXPEED 4), you can also set it to change between banks with a simple button+dial with your eye to the finder and immediate feedback, just like you'd adjust exposure compensation or ISO. There are also numer

Not liking the images out of the Z6III so far. [Discussion]
I had the same issue, that's the reason I sold my Z6, it simply wasn't sharp enough compared to my D810. I've been seeing this exact problem here on Reddit and other forums, many of the shots posted with Nikon mirrorless seem either out-of-focus or soft/mushy compared to DSLR. The crazy thing is eve

Should I buy this Nikon D850 ?
Buy a z5ii. For real. Why? Because it's the best value you can get. It can do 10 bit video which gives you billions compared to millions of color tones, which really help for skin/faces. Even in h256 SDR video. You can sideload 'recipes' from the Nikon Imaging Cloud, meaning you can bake really nice

Upgrade to the z50 or z6 from the D7000?
Can't speak from experience myself but the original Z6 was the first generation of Nikon mirrorless cameras which got a lot of criticism for not having great AF performance. From what I have read on this sub so far the Z6 will probably be disappointing if you do a lot of action shooting.

What is a decent bugdet camera+lens to get for bird photography for an amateur?
For amateur birding, I've got an OM-D E-M1 Mk II with the 75-300 II (and the 60mm macro for smaller critters handheld macros without a tripod are pure bliss). Before, I was a compulsive buyer: Nikon FF, Z-mount, Canon... tested and sold it all. Since switching to Olympus, no urge to change, lightweig

What camera should I buy?
Skip the first gen Z6, the Z6II is a bare minimum. But if budget is tight, go for a D750 (FX) or D500 - but the D500 (DX) will tie you to crop lenses, while a full frame (FX) camera will give you the option to use the same lenses on mirrorless (if recent lenses) with the FTZ adapter. Using a Z6 pure

Which Nikon Z body is best for dog photography with strong AF tracking (without going to Z8/Z6III)?
I have a Z7ii, Zf, and Z8 and I do a fair bit of dog photography. What kind of grip do you have? Does it have a thumb hook? I have the NEEWER CA-079 (not their CA-073 model), and it lets me use the Zf one-handed. The thumb grip makes a huge difference. Maybe try a better $30 grip before an expensive
