What camera did they use?

D5, something to do with it being more thoroughly tested by NASA - I get not choosing the Z9, there have been lots of updates, and rolling shutter might be an issue in space somehow. Really I think that this would be a place where the a1ii absolutely shines, it's so small compared to the other flags

Hello, World: Artemis II crew looks back at Earth on their way to the Moon

The Z9 and needed lenses are most likely not fully modified for the mission, so they took the fully certified D5 instead. Yes Z9s are already on the ISS, this isn't the same mission. They do have a Z9 on board albeit with a 40/2. For the D5's defense, its sensor's got the best high ISO performance o

So Long to the Z7 Platform?

Nah. It's pretty clear that Nikon doesn't think there's enough demand for a Z7/Z8/Z9. We all (on reddit) would like for Nikon to do an A7R alternative Z7III. A high megapixel slow still camera is a niche that's not currently filled, and doesn't require a fast readout sensor.

So Long to the Z7 Platform?

On a settings banks equipped modern camera (EXPEED 5 and later at least, might go back to the EXPEED 4), you can also set it to change between banks with a simple button+dial with your eye to the finder and immediate feedback, just like you'd adjust exposure compensation or ISO. There are also numer

Artemis II: Why did nasa choose go pros for the exterior coverage

Honestly all of their camera choices have drawbacks. The D5 they are using for still images is ten years old, the Z9 is newer but an odd choice all around with the ISO max of just over 100k. their lense choices are also strange only going wide angle and telephoto, tbh I'd have loved to see a super t

Would you stick with MFTeven if you got enough money to get a high end FF kit?

If I had all the money in the world to spend, I'm sure that I'd also have a high end Sony or Nikon setup. But I would also imagine that I'd still use the m43 gear, depending on the setting. It's going to be much nicer walking around with an OM1 and the 150-400 than with an z9 and a 600 f4.

Does it make sense to buy a D5?

The Z9 was unproven at the time, and the D6 had Nikon's best DSLR AF, ever, with no mirrorless caveats (like AF assist lights, horizontal detail, or stopped down AF as on the Z system). The D6 was likely in development for a while before the Z9 started development, so they just released whatever the

iPhone footage of the Moon taken by Astronaut Reid Wiseman

Is Christina using some old school spacey Nikon kit ? I mean, obviously things worked out, but Iโ€™m shocked there isnโ€™t a better mirrorless body to use. In space, every gram counts. Edit: Reddit says it was the Nikon D5 DSLR (launched 2016) which is hardended for space and then the Nikon Z9 mirrorles

Apollo 11 vs Artemis 2 core separation. 56 years apart

Yeah Hasselblad could do it if NASA asked them, they probably would even make brand new models, especially with the advancements in modernised film from Kodak too it would be a very good way of getting high quality images of missions. They have a Nikon Z9 only from request of the crew which is madde

My best mineral Moon taken with Nikon Z8

Looks amazing and so beautiful! ๐ŸŒ‘ I just looked up the price of the Nikon Z9 plus the lens (80-400) NASA uses and holly hell itโ€™s expensive! ๐Ÿ˜ณ
