So Long to the Z7 Platform?
I have a theory about this: The Z7 only existed because Nikon needed something that they could vaguely compare to the D850, but neither the Z7 or the Z7II ever hit the highs that the D850 did. The Z8 showed up and took that position over. Quite successfully too, I might add. There's just no niche th

Z7II or Z6II...which is a better upgrade?
Z5ii. megapixels aren't everything, and if you don't need the additional features of the z6iii, the z5ii would be perfect. the added capability of the expeed7 processor makes enough difference over the dual expeed6 of the z6ii and z7ii

Anyone have any idea how many Z7s were sold?
Z7 sold in way lesser numbers than Z6 People who own a Z7 for shooting landscape or relatively static stuff ain't upgrading to Z8 because there is not much benefit for them The very fact that Z7ii is still holding on a relatively high asking price in the used market means Z7iii isn't coming. Not any

Z5II or Z7II
Thé autofocus requirements for what you like to photograph is more the deciding factor Also, auction implies neither price might be those listed. Is there return possibly? Z7ii: no lens, no FTZ and you likely have DX format F mount lenses so you will either have to buy the adapter and live for a whi

Please Nikon make a Z7 III
When I use my Z7ii for focus stacking a dozen images or so, focusing accuracy is extremely important. There is room for improvement here. A Z7iii will have improved focusing performance across the board, I care much less about speed than accuracy. Trying to get corners of an image and distance objec

Gear that was actually end game for you.
All that matters to me is the lens and the sensor, so for a camera it’s the Nikon D850. I have a Z7ii but still use a D850 for most shoots. I can’t imagine only having one lens but the Micro Nikkor 55mm f2.8 AI-S is the lens that covers most of my needs most of the time (focus throw is very importan

So Long to the Z7 Platform?
I think it would be great to have a more compact 45MP body in the lineup, but sales history is the determining factor for future investments in R&D and especially retooling production lines. I think the larger sensor becomes a problem for pleasing hybrid shooters because it can't achieve the video p

I’ve pushed my Z7ii to its limits focus and exposure stacking. There is a lot of room for improvement. To say it’s just fine as is, is absurd.

Why is it trendy to hate Nikon?
The Z5ii and Z7ii are the two cameras in the Z lineup with older BSI non-stacked sensors, and therefore have better dynamic range than the rest of the lineup. The A7V has 12.5 stops at base ISO, not 11.7. In comparison the Z6iii has 10.5, and the Z8 has 11.3 (ISO 64). Is that the cause of the whole

I’ve shot back to back with my z7ii and there’s a noticeable difference in overall quality. I’m Convinced the stacked sensor architecture gives a lesser image depth for whatever reason. Nonscientific of course but I’ve seen enough side by sides to believe it.
