Switched From Canon To Nikon, I think I made the right choice.
"....looking on upgrading to the Nikon Z6ii or Z5ii next year." The Z6II will not feel like much of an upgrade. When you do get around to upgrading, don't bother with anything other than an EXPEED 7 body - they are an order of magnitude better in the AF department. Currently that means a Z50II, Z5II

What is it with Nikon and Social Media
If you're a landscape photographer, sure. But as a wedding or event photographer, the Z6 was completely underwhelming and literally generations behind the competition.. Tracking was rudimentary. AF could not keep up with moving subjects, especially in low light. It didn't even have eye detection out

Mirrorless D500
High-end crop sensor, i.e. north of $2,000 USD, is a hard sell. Even Fujifilm, the most successful crop sensor vendor, couldn't move X-H2 and X-H2S bodies when all of their other cameras were regularly out of stock. I also think Nikon was pretty successful in moving their higher-end DX DSLR customer

Might switch over to Nikon from Canon for my full frame body looking for some info.
Nikon doesn't have a single series that corresponds to the 5D series. The D7xx/D8xx series can both count. If you're talking about the last released DSLR it is the D780, but if you're looking for the best DSLR it is the D850. The first full frame DSLR that doesn't have the integrated vertical grip i

Honest user review of Nikon Z5ii with Tamron 28-75 f2.8
It's not just AF for stills. The Z5ii has multi-shot high-res, better manual focus assists, the improved Non-CPU Data menu (big deal if you shoot a lot of non-CPU lenses), Pre-Capture (JPEG-only), the 15c and 30c drive modes (also JPEG only), a new high efficiency file format and support for Flexibl

Blow out fixes?
AH. I was originally going to buy a used 5DmIII, but thankfully I was fortunate enough to afford a Nikon Z6ii. But I still think of her and what could have been haha. I still prefer the body ergonomics of Canon far more, with Sony coming in second. Push that camera to its limits and good luck!

Official Question Thread! Ask /r/photography anything you want to know! January 30, 2026
If you were fine with the 35mm focal length on the 1300D, then I guess you could make the 50mm work with the R6. Indeed for very low light situations, the prime may be better than the zoom with the extra light. Can't speak for colours but autofocus will be improved whichever one you go with although

Cropped or full frame?
The difference IMHO is overblown for all but professionals, your skill, luck, good lighting and good lenses will be more important than sensor size. The potential niggle could be astro, but I haven't found any critical issues with noise on my Z50 (same sensor as Z50ii) that makes me want to rush out

Z6iii versus Z6ii
Pretty much https://www.nikonusa.com/content/raw-video-output?srsltid=AfmBOoojLpF_NY_-P5-OtRwh1X6BiZWBFBqTqbWR_4vlAa0_VG6HoX94 I don't think it unlocks anything else I did it before I had my Z6iii, luckily Nikon USA is only 15 mins from my house so I was able to drop it off / pick it up without shipping

Which lens goes with which budget friendly camera for portrait photography?
Brands have their own lens mount. They all will have 50mm and 85mm lenses for their particular mounts. Any of those bodies will work for portraits so long as you have a lens. The 50mm will likely be the cheapest option. The z mount 85mm runs about 650 used. I don’t know about the canon stuff. Used N
