Make me feel better about my purchase. New Z6ii

The main criticism against the first/second generation of Nikon's mirrorless cameras is that the autofocus has trouble keeping up with fast moving subjects. While this is a fair criticism, it's also nowhere near as bad as people on the internet like to make it out to be. If your primary use cases ar

Most photographers don’t need better gear, they need better taste

This is the part I strongly disagree with. The difference is keeper rate and expectations. With a modern higher end mirrorless like Sony a7v Nikon Z6III or something, even a beginner can get like a 40% keeper rate, and a moderately skilled amateur can get into like 70% rate. But if you're shooting a

Switched From Canon To Nikon, I think I made the right choice.

"....looking on upgrading to the Nikon Z6ii or Z5ii next year." The Z6II will not feel like much of an upgrade. When you do get around to upgrading, don't bother with anything other than an EXPEED 7 body - they are an order of magnitude better in the AF department. Currently that means a Z50II, Z5II

Nikon z6 for everything

The D7200 is only 90 g (3 oz) heavier than the Z6. If weight is your main concern and want to get into mirrorless, take a look at the Z50ii. It is over 300 g lighter than the D7200 plus it has the most current generation processor (Expeed 7), which the Z5ii also has. It has much better autofocus, fa

Nikon Z50 upgrade or switch systems for better video?

Switching systems at this point seems silly - it’s not like there aren’t already Nikon bodies with great video, and given that they bought RED, we’d expect incredible video improvements in the next generation or two. You should be looking at the Z5ii. Dear god, don’t get a Z6ii at this point.

Third party batteries

I mostly use K&F batteries for my z6ii because you can get them with an integrated usb-c port for direct charging. No need to pack the bulky nikon-charger anymore.

DSLR or Mirrorless for airshow photography, $800 budget

A few thoughts from some who has shot a significant amount of airshows, and has experience with both DSLR and mirrorless: First off, airshow photography isn't very demanding on autofocus. You don't need some fancy camera for that, it's generally a plane contrasted in a bright sky That said, I don't

Those who've switched DSLR to mirrorless....

Zero regrets. From a Nikon D500 crop sensor to a full-frame Z6ii. I went from a great camera to a fantastic one.

I would like to fix this, but I don't know where to find this part

As someone who recently tried to pull apart and fix a similar bit of damage on a Z6II, it's not as isolated of a part as it looks, and (at least in Australia), Nikon only sells mirrorless components to authorised repairers and won't sell them to consumers. Sending to Nikon might be your best bet.

Switching back to Nikon?

The eye detect issue was fixed in a firmware update a few years ago for the Z6ii. I have only used the Z6ii but would not hesitate to get another Nikon when I get around to upgrading.
