Neumann KH 80 + KH 750 or Genelec 8030 + 7050, both with DSP room correction. The bass won't be excessive with properly placed and tuned sub, actually it will be excellent. I personally recommend purchasing a measurement mic, it will help with positioning and equalization - the results will pleasant

Good question - i was going to add this but didnt have much time yesterday. The MA-1 calibration with Neumann helps by EQ correction, as well as phase and delay - which can be very helpful for subs. Nearly purchased Neumann KH 120 II's + MA 1 Monitor Calibration System
Personally I dislike KH 80, it's too small. I'm sure it's great, but it's also a psychological thing.
