Thanks! This looks like the one that will finally retire my Netgear R7000. By god it's been such a workhorse! I've lost track of how many different custom firmwares I've run on it. Freshtomato is my current one, and it's absolutely amazing that I have access to pretty well every modern feature you c

Looking for script to toggle wifi off/on using either physical button on Netgear R7000
No trouble at all, glad it’s up and working well for you! I just scored a Netgear Nighthawk R7800 off eBay, gonna try OpenWRT on that. I have tried Fresh Tomato and DD-WRT so far (on R7000). The R7800 is supposed to be one of the best for OpenWRT, we’ll see. Why am I doing that?? Because I’m enjoyin

What is the best router you’ve ever owned?
I've had a few that stick out. Linksys WRT54G. Whatever Mikrotik model the WISP back home handed out. Netgear Nighthawk R7000. For me, all of these were absolute tanks. They just...didn't quit. I still have my Nighthawk because, you know, just in case.

Anyone try FT 2026.2 yet? (ARM)
Sounds good, thanks. I have the same sexy router (Netgear R7000!) and so far am really impressed how well it works with Fresh Tomato. 🍅

Is there any other support?
First, I suggest you do a little research. This question has been asked before on r/openwrt so you can look at old threads. Here are some recommendations from the past year: https://www.reddit.com/r/openwrt/search/?q=best+router&type=posts&t=year You could also post to r/openwrt & ask for suggestion

Looking for reliable mesh system recommendation with 3 access points for maximum of ~$350. Doesn't seem to be a lot of good choices?
I used to like Netgear. I still use one of their products, a Netgear Nighthawk R7000 router, as a wired access point in my network. Great range and fantastic reliability. It is nearly 10 years old and is still working well as a WAP. However, I won't buy a Netgear product today. I do not agree with t

What is a rock-solid affordable router for an average family?
I had tomato on my r7000 after the Netgear firmware just straight up stopped enabling the wifi radios. It was solid for ~4 years after that. I only upgraded to get wifi 6. Now I have an rax-80 in AP mode because I upgraded to opnsense as my router. No complaints on the AP mode nighthawk

How to Get Ethernet Port into a Different Room
for this application i, luckily, stumbled on netgear nighthawk r7000 wifi router. one of its features is that instead of router it can act as wireless bridge, using wifi (instead of ethernet cable) to connect to main router. and, being a router, it has 4 ethernet ports. now. this model is pretty old
