i feel you on the battery thing. had a similar scare with my SP9 last year. edge helps but some units just have more drain - have you checked the battery report? run powercfg /batteryreport in cmd, it'll show design vs actual capacity. if it's way off, microsoft might still work with you even past r

As someone working in IT Hardware, I've had an unbelievable amount of Surface Pro Type Covers fail, all the Surface Pro 9/10 versions specifically. Along with the migration from Intel to Snapdragon CPU's with ARM64 instead of x86 we're no longer purchasing Surface Pro's, HP EliteBooks for everyone a

Yep. I don’t see why manufacturers can’t just set a higher refresh rate on most screen on hardware that can go along with it but then we go down the overdrive voltage and battery life issues. Take my surface pro 9. It offers a 60Hz plus 60/120HZ mode and finally a forced 120hz mode. In the two optio

if you really value battery life, you should look at the Surface Pro 11 with the Qualcomm X Plus processor (10 cores) or the Qualcomm X Elite processor (12 cores) (now called the Surface Pro 13"). Or the Surface Pro 12" which has the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus (8 Core). I love my Surface Pro 9, but

Eh, I work with ML too, and whatever generic/casual advice you got from ChatGPT/friend, laptop GPU isn't cut for any non-toy ML model. Often Not enough VRam for inference and just forget training. You'd better going with Google Collab Notebook, at least you get a usable GPU. Find out if your Uni com

I don't suppose you've tried it out yet? I'm considering getting one for my Surface Pro 9 - in theory it has a "smart charging" option but there's no way to force it to be on, it just automatically enables based on some arbitrary conditions, and I haven't been able to get it to work. So the Chargie

Surface Pro 9 owner and there's a lot to like about it... But I'm trepidatious about recommending it. I haven't used the 11 so I'm sure the battery life has improved, but it's really, really bad on the 9. Love the keyboard itself, love the slim form factor ... Hate that sometimes I don't have a hing

Have both now and have owned most of the SP line over the years including a SPX2 (Arm). I’m not a gamer and use it for notes, general productivity and to access a Citrix VM for work. I don’t like the SP9. Its combo of power demand and battery size means it’s quasi-portable — like you say, 4ish hours

I got an omnibook UF, core ultra 7 256V, 16G RAM. screen on time is about 5 hours (I've been meticulously measuring it for weeks now). I use HDR off, brighntess about 70%, power efficient mode. My use is heavy web browsing (dozens of edge tabs, with spotify on, occasional youtube, word/ppt/excel, an
