LG Gram Pro 17" 2025 - beyond insulting thermal paste application, 80% of the die was naked; awful thermal design too, plenty of room for bigger heatpipe and heatsink. This is aswful engineering from LG. This laptop could have used much higher power limits.

I'm not defending the poor thermal paste application you are identifying, but I've had 3 LG Gram 17" models so far (2021 and 2024) and I'm very happy with the performance. I bought it for the big screen and light weight. Any thickening of heat pipes, additional fans, heavier heatsinks, etc would add

LG Gram Pro 17 2025 (17Z90TP Core Ultra 7 255H) - how to make this laptop (and other grams) run like hell

I logged using HWINFO64 the cinebench run of 11 minutes (score 16526), as well as a single pass (score 18436), and another one immediately after (score 17007). I made a post on imgur with some plots that you may find interesting: https://imgur.com/gallery/cinebench-23-2-on-lg-gram-pro-17-17z90tp-aft

Great post. Despite your comments on very questionable design choices from LG, I am still tempted to pick up a Gram Pro 17 (unless anybody has better suggestions for a 17" laptop to lug around a university campus?). The 17" screen size entitles me to an enormous discount through the UK's DSA scheme.
