The 285H is still pretty efficient. I can easily get a days worth of real world use out of my LG Gram Pro 17". And I would recommend an LG Gram over anything to basically anyone. Especially a student who will be carrying it around constantly. Being sub 3lbs with a big bright screen is the best. Side

I'm not defending the poor thermal paste application you are identifying, but I've had 3 LG Gram 17" models so far (2021 and 2024) and I'm very happy with the performance. I bought it for the big screen and light weight. Any thickening of heat pipes, additional fans, heavier heatsinks, etc would add

Great post. Despite your comments on very questionable design choices from LG, I am still tempted to pick up a Gram Pro 17 (unless anybody has better suggestions for a 17" laptop to lug around a university campus?). The 17" screen size entitles me to an enormous discount through the UK's DSA scheme.
