First time using linux, starting with Mint. Why does Linux feel slower than Windows?

My experience differs, mint feels fast and light compared to windows 11. LG Gram 17, decent specs. There has been a learning curve to be sure, but smarter people than I have been tackling the same issues so I know it will get sorted out.

Revised Poll: How wearable do you find EG straps/harness?

I put 3. I really adore Evergoods design language, and their bags work for my use case. But I'm not sure I'd buy another at this point, and am actively looking to replace a few. I had the CTB20 as my EDC/work bag and decided it was too bulky and big so I swapped it out for the CPL24. The CPL24 was f

To All Engineering Students/Grads

I'm a design engineer (just completed first year) and I have an LG gram but tbh from my experience so far I don't think you need something super fancy. The most complicated software we've run so far has been fusion, and even then you could use university computers- and I think there's a way to use a

Lg gram + Ubuntu 26.04 impressions

I don't game on my LG gram so I don't need dGPU under Linux (but I still benefit from dual-fan cooling). I disable it via command sudo prime-select intel and reboot. For some reason, Nvida Settings UI does not allow user to switch to intel-only via GUI. All display outputs are connected to Intel GPU

Thinkpad pour creality Otter

I have an Otter. I use it with an LG Gram Pro. 32GB, 255H and no dgpu. Works great for small to medium models. Zero complaints. With large models I'll use my PC. 14900K, 64GB DDR4 and an RTX 5080.

Replace Copilot key function on new LG Gram Pro 17" with proper Right Ctrl effect?

Install Microsoft power Toys. This was easy. I have also replaced the FN +Space to launch the Perplexity app instead of the useless LG gram chat.

Ryzen 350 vs Intel 258V for sw development

I recently bought the lg gram, with the 258v. has great battery life. the ai pro or the npu don't really do anything except help copilot run recall. id probably do the x1 carbon if I didn't have the gram. with coding you need a great keyboard and a decent enough screen so your eyes don't get tired.

I'm stuck on what backpack to choose

I have the osprey proxima. It can fit my 17 inch LG Gram Laptop. If you don't want to look it up its basically a really lightweight and thin laptop. Anyways, it is indeed a tight fit in the laptop compartment. I think a smaller 15 inch laptop with average thickness can fit but don't expect much wigg

LG Gram - fantastically light, decent performance, underwhelming battery

I have a 32gb lg gram 12gen-i71260P with 16" 2560x1600 res display, I got mine in costco sale in november 2022 for £1149 they do 2 battery types for it a heavy duty long life(heavier) or usual slim one (standard), i be honest , the case scratches and the keyboard/case feels slightly flimsy, but this
