Switched from M2 Air to the X1 Carbon 13th Gen. Some first impressions
_UPDATE 2: I returned it. The coil whine was driving me mad. It was not only during load but it also appeared during less stressfull scenarios like browsing and office work :/ Total no go for me. You can find a youtube link in this post. Then there was the issue with the speakers doing a "plop" soun

Ultralight laptop under 1 kg: Lenovo officially launches ThinkPad X13 Gen 7
You're doing something very wrong. My S14 gets 10 hours battery life on max brightness. You need to tune down the fresh rate to Macbooks 60hz and turn on dark mode system-wide. Also make sure Panel Self Refresh is on in Intel Graphics Software. I know my zenbooks s14 has a bigger battery, but the X1

T14 Gen 2 Core i7 (11th Gen) or X1 Carbon i7 (10th gen)?
Go for the T14 Gen 2 honestly. Yeah the X1 is cheaper and lighter but 8th gen memory vs 11th gen with Iris Xe is actually a pretty big jump especially if you're gonna mess around with Linux since newer gen tends to have better driver support out of the box. The RAM difference hurts a bit but you can

dream laptop with linux
If you're looking at ThinkPads, the T series is really your best bet for optimal Linux compatibility. There are 16" models available. One thing I really don't like about the X1 Carbons is that you're pretty much stuck with the RAM you get because it's soldered (it's an ultrabook, after all, so thinn

15 years ago, these laptops released - which one are you taking?
In 2011, my daily driver was a gorgeous 2nd hand ThinkPad X60 that was then 5 years old. Between these two I would've picked the X220 as my upgrade - familiar amazing keyboard, excellent Linux compatibility, rock solid. I have one in my collection now and it's exactly that. In reality I upgraded to

HP ZBook Fury G9 (64 GB RAM) was a disaster for real-world work - need ThinkPad advice to avoid another failure
64GB users are power users, Lenovo has P-series laptops to serve that market, typicall have better cooling + higher TDP than any of the non P-series laptops. As a result, they are the most chonkiest of all of them as well as the worst battery life. X1C are not built for performance, they are the hap

Did I get a good deal?
and again I am so sorry I just messaged for no reason let me tell you what I bought again: my laptop kinda similar to yours in some aspects, 512 gb storage, 16gb ram, but it is a lenovo t14 AMD ryzen 7 5850U so I think this one is a bit thicker than the X1 Carbon and I got mine for around 387 usd (r

Ultralight laptop under 1 kg: Lenovo officially launches ThinkPad X13 Gen 7
So this is essentially the new X1 Nano. Let's hope the battery is better with Panther lake. I got a X1 Carbon 13 to improve battery life over the nano, but the improvement was not massive (6-7 hours vs 3.5), not close to a MacBook (also the 5G in the X1 Carbon makes it just as heavy as previous mode

i want arch linux freedom but macbook hardware spoiled me
I have a recent Thinkpad X1 2-in-1 Gen10 (Lunar Lake, 258V) and the current X1 Carbon of the same generation feels like a plastic toy in comparison, just had the chance to get my hands on one at work a few days ago. The 2-in-1 is a solid slab of metal, a little heavier than the Carbon but no flex an
