Switched from M2 Air to the X1 Carbon 13th Gen. Some first impressions

_UPDATE 2: I returned it. The coil whine was driving me mad. It was not only during load but it also appeared during less stressfull scenarios like browsing and office work :/ Total no go for me. You can find a youtube link in this post. Then there was the issue with the speakers doing a "plop" soun

Got the Thinkpad X1 Carbon Gen 13 Aura edition and noticed the right Ctrl key was replaced with Copilot + fingerprint. Is there any way to remap Copilot to Ctrl?

This is the laptop https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/p/laptops/thinkpad/thinkpadx1/thinkpad-x1-carbon-gen-13-aura-edition-14-inch-intel/len101t0108. I didn't notice it before but now that it's in front of me, the right Ctrl key, which I use all the time for Ctrl-left/right, is missing entirely and has be

Unpopular opinion: E-series ThinkPads aren’t bad at all

E series are imo still pretty muchworse than T series in pretty much aspect except for plain hardware specs. Keyboard replacements on E Thinkpads are a nightmare for instance. They are consumer products after all. However I like the E series more than the L series. Latter are just plastic boxes, E se

What would be your ideal Thinkpad for the 35th anniversay next year?

Dunno, probably because of the fact I don't have hopes. After the community's disparaging of the ThinkPad 25 project at launch, Lenovo's response was a big fat "fuck you" with the 30th anniversary where they merely added RGB labels to an X1 Carbon, and I expect that to continue into 35. Unfortunatel

Should i buy a t431s

The best way I can describe a t431s is quirky. It doesn't have the grunt of a full fat t430 (or the t430s) and isn't as slim as an x1 carbon, so it gets overlooked. It'd be like using a regular t430 in power saving mode, so usable, if barely. An extra 8gb stick of ram and a lightweight Linux distro

Does anyone else prefer the classic silver ThinkPad logo compared to the new sunken in black logo?

I took a T14 Gen3 instead of an X1 Carbon, just because the logo was silver. Lenovo is removing little by little what ThinkPads are supposed to be.

Hot take: Lenovo should simplify the Thinkpad line

ThinkPad is the #1 business laptop worldwide in part because of its model diversity. And it is a significant part of the financial success of Lenovo as a whole. There's a ton of work done behind the scenes to keep parts complexity to a relative minimum. It does require some explanation sometimes, bu

What's your take on modern thinkpads? Do you think they hold up to the ThinkPad name?

Some of the newer ThinkPad models no longer give users detailed information for replacing just the LCD panel. The display now comes as one fully assembled unit. I think this started with the X1 Carbon Gen 9. Because of that, Lenovo’s support pages no longer list the individual part numbers inside th

The hate for Windows just because it isn't Linux is pretty stupid.

" It was nice getting rid of the security nightmare that was XP" They literally fixed (a lot of, not all of them) issues with security in XP with Vista - but at cost of hardware needed to process new features. Vista wasn't performing terribly. Just system integrators decided to sell hardware dedicat

Retail workers of Reddit, what is something you would like costumers to know?

As someone who worked in a retail setting selling computers and laptops for a while, I have a few things. Figure out what you want and are going to do with a laptop before you even walk in to the store or start browsing amazon. I don't just mean if youre using it for "school" or "work" or "Gaming" I
