Yeah, when I had X280, I installed from X1 Carbon Gen 6, I think around 40 EUR upgrade, but so much better!

My advice: Grab a $150-$200 Thinkpad X1 Carbon gen 6 or newer, throw KDE-Plasma on it and see for yourself why we love it.

Thinkpad recommendation

You can get a X1 Carbon Gen 6 for around/under $200 easy on ebay. Still a nice little machine. I have a Gen 6 running CachyOS as a loaner.
