Users with "old thinkpads" what are they capable of?

Well, I have X1 Carbon Gen 6, it is almost a daily driver, as I have some days using it all the time, and some days using my MBA. I bought a new battery for X1, and now it says - 73% - 9 hours left (Power mode - better performance). It has i7-8650U CPU @ 1.90GHz and 16 GB of RAM. The OS is Windows 1

Are t480 really this good?

The keyboard's good, but it's not incredible - standalone mechanical keyboard (or HHKB) is far more enjoyable for many. As said, M1 Air, or if you don't care about the mods, consider X1 Carbon Gen 6 - it had great keyboard (last gen with 1.8mm travel), but it's sleeker than T480, 1.1kg vs 1.6kg. Sam

ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 6: I never thought it's so good

Ah.. that is a shame. Been with the Gen 10 for 3 years since buying it new. Has the i7-1280p proc. Overheats constantly, has cooked one battery already and the 2nd battery is also ready to be replaced as it holds about an hour charge. I've had the proc repasted 4 times under warranty. The KB is not

Which one would you choose and why? MacBook Pro 14 vs Thinkpad X1 Carbon

X1 Carbon. I currently have an X1 Carbon Gen 6, and I've grown pretty fond of the great keyboard and lightness. and durability, it's been through a lot. battery life on mine has been pretty good. aesthetically, I also like the Thinkpad better.

Thinkpad for linux

ThinkPad T480 or T480s (2018) stands out as one of the best options in your budget. These models offer an excellent balance of performance, build quality, upgradability, Linux compatibility, and used market availability under $400 (often $150–350 depending on specs). Why the T480/T480s? Linux compat

Why did you switch from a MacBook to a ThinkPad?

I didn't fully switched. I bought X1 Carbon Gen 6 as a backup notebook for my bike rides. Guess what, I am 2 weeks away from my home office and I took X1, my MacBook Air is at home. Primarily I use MacBook, I have an iPhone, and I love MacOS integration with iPhone, from scaning documents, to having

The T14s keyboard kind of sucks

i feel you on that keyboard change. the t14s uses a different mechanism with 1.5mm travel vs 1.8mm on the t480. if you keep the laptop for the speed and weight, a keychron k3 low profile mechanical sits right on top and gives you that clicky feel. or look for a used x1 carbon gen 6 which kept the ol
